The living room has a 5-meter-tall window with an amazing panoramic view of the surrounding forest. The comfortable bedroom with a king-size bed is located on the upper floor. Here you will also find a large window that allows you to watch the starry night sky and, with a bit of luck, the Northern Lights directly from your bed. The suites are rounded off with a well-equipped bathroom. If there are more than 2 people, a sofa bed is set up in the living room.

An authentic introduction to the world of mushing – in the home of Europe’s longest dog sled race, the Finnmarksløpet. On this 2½-hour tour, following a safety briefing and an introduction to handling a team of Alaskan Huskies, you’ll have the chance to lead your own team along sections of the Finnmarksløpet route. The ride takes about an hour through a rugged winter landscape. Each sledge is designed for two people, with you taking turns as driver and passenger. Back from the tour, you can help look after the dogs and thank them with a few strokes. Afterwards, there are snacks by the fire in the lavvo (traditional tent), whilst the guide tells stories about life with huskies. Children aged 5–12 sit between an adult’s legs during the tour; 13–15-year-olds may sit independently and can drive under the guide’s supervision; solo driving is permitted from the age of 16.

This 2.5-hour experience is designed for guests who have already taken part in a dog sled tour and now wish to take the next step into the world of mushing. Instead of the larger sleds used on beginner tours, you will drive smaller racing sleds, such as those used in training and competitions. There are no passengers: you will steer your own team as a musher, learning how to work with the dogs and control the sled with technical precision. In a small group, you will receive personalised instruction from an experienced musher, including insights from years of training and racing with Alaskan Huskies. Prerequisites for this tour are good physical fitness and the ability to stand and steer confidently. After the drive, you’ll help unharness the dogs and spend time with them in the yard. This five-hour experience is for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the world of dog sledding. You’ll start by being kitted out with the necessary equipment and briefed on the adventure ahead. You’ll then set off in pairs per sled (driver and passenger) to guide your team of Alaskan Huskies for three hours along the original route of the Finnmarksløpet, Europe’s longest and toughest dog sled race. The route follows the frozen Alta River as it winds its way towards the plateau. Along the way, you’ll stop for a break and enjoy a warm outdoor lunch cooked over an open fire, accompanied by stories from the race and life in the north. For an additional fee, this tour can also be arranged for a private group. Children aged 13 to 15 sit on the sled and are allowed to drive under the guide’s supervision. The minimum age for driving solo is 16.

This evening tour takes you out of the city to some of the darkest and most aurora-friendly landscapes around Alta. You’ll keep an eye on the weather and the clouds, and adapt the route flexibly to head to where the sky clears and the lights can unfold. Along the way, your experienced local guide will share scientific insights and stories about the Northern Lights and help you capture the moment – whether with a camera or simply with your own eyes. There is no guarantee of seeing the Northern Lights, but this tour takes you further out into the countryside, keeps you warmer and gives you the best possible chance. The tour lasts approximately 4 hours and usually takes place in a van or minibus. Hot drinks and snacks are included, as are winter clothing if required and a limited selection of tripods. Departure is usually between 6.30 pm and 8.00 pm, depending on the forecast and location.

Experience an exciting snowmobile adventure as you ride through the wilderness of the Alta River Valley up to the inland highlands. Even though the sun does not rise above the horizon in winter, the Arctic light often creates stunning colours in the sky, making for a truly special experience on this excursion. The tour combines the thrill of riding with a visit to the Arctic tundra in unique lighting conditions. Before setting off, your experienced local guide will kit you out with a thermal suit, boots, gloves, a buff and a helmet, and will give you a thorough safety briefing as well as an introduction to the safe operation of the snowmobile. Stops are planned along the route, during which your guide will share stories. The total duration is approximately 3 hours. As standard, two people share a snowmobile; however, single-driver participation is also available for an additional charge. To drive a snowmobile, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid car or motorcycle driving licence.

A unique adventure in the herring-rich fjords of Northern Norway: set off in a RIB boat in search of whales whilst taking in the stunning fjord scenery. To maximise your chances of a sighting, the departure point is flexibly adjusted to the location where the whales were last spotted – this may involve a journey of up to an hour to the harbour. Once on the water, you’ll maintain a safe distance and switch off the engines to disturb the whales as little as possible; humpback whales and orcas often approach the boat out of curiosity nonetheless. Please note that sightings cannot be guaranteed despite our best efforts, and that the season may vary depending on migration patterns. The tour lasts approx. 3.5 hours and is led by a professional guide. Included are warm thermal suits with life jackets, shoes, goggles and gloves, as well as a hot drink and cake. A private tour is available at an additional cost. The minimum height requirement is 120 cm.

This excursion, lasting around 4 to 4.5 hours, takes you to GLØD’s wilderness camp just outside Alta and combines snowshoeing with ice fishing. Together, you’ll hike through beautiful, peaceful pine forests, framed by towering mountains, to the wilderness camp and its idyllically situated little lake, which has long been renowned for its abundant fish stocks. A husky accompanies the tour and helps pull the equipment. At the camp, you’ll light an open fire in the lavvu, the traditional tent of the Sami herders – the perfect place to warm up and enjoy a hot lunch. Fishing is usually for Arctic char, although these large fish aren’t always easy to catch. With a bit of luck, you'll have fresh, home-caught fish for lunch; otherwise, food you’ve brought with you will be cooked over the fire. The snowshoe route covers a total of around 2.5 km, including a stop at a beautiful viewpoint. With a bit of luck, you’ll spot tracks of hares, foxes or moose along the way, as well as birds of prey such as eagles or the rough-legged buzzard.
