The only requirements are a reasonable level of fitness and the ability to concentrate and maintain your balance.
Day 1: Arrival
The exciting husky safari starts at the husky lodge just outside Karasjok in the heart of remarkable Sami land in Norway. You can enjoy a delicious dinner before receiving a briefing about the tour ahead. Comfortable overnight accommodation will be provided in the lodge. On-site travel services begin with dinner on the first day and end with breakfast on the last day.

Day 2 -4: On the way to deep, snowy nature: Your unique husky safari through Norway
After a hearty breakfast, you will receive your cold weather clothing, which will keep you warm and comfortable during your tour. Then it will be time to meet your excited huskies, who will be very pleased to see you! You will spend some time getting to know them and learn the basics of caring for your dogs and driving your sled. Then the tour will begin! You will head out into the wilderness, journeying past vast frozen lakes and marshes and experiencing the beauty of the area.
During the tour, you will experience a variety of terrain, from snow-covered woodland to silent, frozen plateaus. As you travel you will have the opportunity to witness some of the stunning wildlife that Norway has to offer, possibly glimpsing reindeer or wild moose roaming in winter pastures. Lunches will be served around an open fire, giving you time to share your thoughts with your tour mates or to simply enjoy the peace and tranquility of the wilderness. On day 4 you will head back to the lodge where a hot, delicious dinner will be waiting for you. Afterwards, you will be able to enjoy a dip in the hot tub or spend an hour unwinding in the heated sauna. During the tour, there may also be the opportunity to see the phenomenal Aurora Borealis, also known as Northern Lights.
Day 5: Extend the magic or depart with memories
After your final breakfast, your tour will conclude. You may wish to consider staying at the lodge for some of the other optional activities on offer such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing and more. Please inquire to see what exciting opportunities are available. Whether you choose to extend your time in Karasjok or continue your travels elsewhere, we are certain you will take some amazing memories of your time husky sledding in Norway with you.
Accommodation:
Accommodation during the tour will depend on the exact route that we take, which will be subject to the time of year and the weather conditions. We will either stay overnight in cozy and warm winter tents in the wilderness or in basic shared mountain cabins on the Finnmark plateau without running water or electricity. Please note that the tour operator reserves the right to amend the tour route as necessary to suit the weather conditions (which can be unpredictable and change quickly), and to ensure the safety of the group.
Important information:
The ever-changing landscapes provided by Mother Nature means that no two tours are identical. The sights and sounds you will experience will be truly unique and allow you to create lasting memories of your time husky sledding. Don’t miss out, book your trip of a lifetime now!
Your dog team:
On this husky safari, you will be driving a tandem team - two sleds behind each other with one team of 8-10 huskies. It is possible to disconnect them and drive two single teams if you have earned some experience and feel safe on the sled. Please notice that this decision will be made in the group with the guide and all participants together.
Requirements for the participants:
This sled dog trip is an active holiday and requires a good level of fitness and teamwork. Essential activities such as fetching water, chopping wood, cooking, and caring for the dogs are organised and carried out together as a team.
How to get there:
Due to the remote location of this truly ‘off the beaten track’ tour, there are a variety of transport options depending on your preferred arrival airport, details of which are listed below.
Via Lakselv Airport, Norway
Upon your arrival at Lakselv airport, a bus journey of approximately one hour will take you to your base in Karasjok. Alternatively, should you prefer a private transfer, you can arrange a taxi for your trip between the airport and Karasjok.
Via Alta Airport, Norway
Upon your arrival at Alta airport, a bus journey of approximately 4 hours will take you to your base in Karasjok. Alternatively, should you prefer a private transfer, you can arrange a taxi for your trip between the airport and Karasjok, and this will take roughly 2.5 hours.
Via Ivalo Aiport, Finland
Upon your arrival at Ivalo airport, you can take a taxi to Ivalo bus station and catch a daily bus that will take approximately 2.5 hours to reach your base in Karasjok. The journey from Ivalo airport to the bus terminal is approximately 7km. Alternatively, should you prefer a private transfer, you can arrange a taxi for your trip between the airport and Karasjok, and this will take roughly 2h.
Whichever location you are travelling from, our experienced advisors will work with you to ensure that your tour connections run as smoothly as possible.
Travel costs:
The green and orange dates are fixed tour dates. The prices quoted are per person (surcharge for single travelers if applicable).
The blue dates are exclusive, there the costs depend on the number of participants. If you book the tour on a date marked in blue, you will remain alone for the booked date and only travel with the people with whom you have booked the tour. The price quoted is valid for a booking of four people. The travel price is reduced if there are more participants, and increased if there are two, three or only one of you.
Different cancellation conditions:
For this destination, 100% cancellation fees apply after confirmed booking. For this reason, we recommend that clients take out insurance in this case. If the participant does not wish to (or cannot) take part in what is booked - no refund is granted. Additionally, further costs may arise if cancellation occurs before the final payment is made.
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate). Show all dates
