The tour for lovers of purebred Huskies. Oliver breeds the rather rare Alaskan Malamute dogs and trains them for these exceptional sled dog trips. He emigrated from Germany to Alaska just a few years ago. His main focus is on conscious and sustainable attitude of his dogs. Chainless, socialised and dog-friendly life. A true example in the US.
Want to learn more about these fascinating Alaskan dogs? Would you like to work on the husky farm feeding the dogs and taking care of them? Then you are in the right place. Oliver will show you everything in detail about dog sledding and will appreciate your help very much. This will make your vacation very memorable.
Alaskan Malamute: Tour itinerary:
Day 1:
You will be collected at Fairbanks Airport and driven to the Kennel. You will get to know the Alaskan Malamut dogs and your guide. Afterwards, enjoy your first dinner together and discuss the itinerary. You'll stay at the farm in a double room or in the rustic hut.
Day 2:
The dogs first! Feed the dogs together. Then you will all have breakfast in the main house. Afterwards, we start with the Alaskan Malamuts. They learn how to handle the sled and equipment. The introductory tour takes you about 25 miles through the deep snowy wilderness of Alaska.
Day 3:
Today the day begins with the feeding of the dogs, afterwards you have breakfast. Then the sleds are packed and the equipment stowed away. Yesterday you learned how to harness the dogs and will do it on your own today. The trip continues into the untouched nature while you can safely lead the dog sled with the cheerful Alaskan Malamuts. Before dinner, the dogs are fed again. At dinner in the main house you will discuss today's experience and thoughts.
Day 4:
Begin with the feeding of the dogs, then breakfast for you. Afterwards, the dogs will be waiting for you. Today, the distances are increased to about 25-30 km so you can have lunch on the way to the wilderness. You will glide with your dogs through forests, over the lakes, and rivers. After returning to the kennel, feeding of the dogs comes first. After the work is done, your dinner will be waiting for you in the main house.
Days 5-10:
The tours can now be gradually intensified and expanded. Lunch in the nature, and spending the night in the Kennel in your usual accommodation.
Day 11:
Even the most beautiful experience comes to an end. It is now time to leave the dogs and leave the wilderness of Alaska. A small consolation is the impressive experience that you take home with you. Transfer back to the airport or to the city.
Additional Activities: Fairbanks and Hot Springs
From Day 5 onwards, you can choose from 2 days doing whatever you want at your leisure, which you can either take further trips or pay a visit to the city. For example, after breakfast, you could visit the spa at the Chena Hot Springs Resort and spend the day there. Here you can also book a snowmobile tour if you wish. Trips to Fairbanks or Hot Springs add extra cost.
Accommodation: You are accommodated in the main house of the farm in 2 double rooms or in a private log cabin (shower in the main house, outside toilet). The host family lives very closely together with your beloved Malamutes, so dogs could also stay in the main house.
Meals: Full board, except alcoholic drinks and private catering service in the city. Special dietary requirements and intolerance can be dealt with individually after prior notice.
Group size: maximum 4 persons - minimum number of participants 2 persons. If you want to travel alone, feel free to contact us!

Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay.
