2 Day Husky Experience in Alta

On this 2-day adventure, you will see life on a Norwegian husky farm up close and personal in a short amount of time. You will spend the night in a traditional lavvo tent, where, with a little luck, you will be able to watch the Northern Lights from your bed. In addition to this special accommodation, the huskies are also on the farm. Together, you will explore the gorgeous surroundings on a husky tour and feel a deep connection to nature as you travel through forests and along the Alta River. In the converted barn on the farm, delicious meals await you, as well as some nice hours in convivial company.

2 Day Husky Experience in Alta: Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Alta and husky safari
Once you arrive in Alta, make your way to Holmen Husky Lodge or book a transfer from the airport or city center (not included). Once you have dropped off your belongings and had a chance to freshen up, you will receive comprehensive instructions on handling your dog sled.

When the guide has completed the instructions, you’ll head over to the dogyard, where you and your partner will share one team. There will be two guests per sled and you’ll be able to switch drivers. If the group is odd-numbered, one of the guides will follow you. The dog sledding tour takes you across the Alta River and lasts approximately 1 hour, depending on weather conditions. After the trip, you’ll be able to cuddle the dogs and visit a traditional lavvo for storytelling, snacks, and warm drinks.

After a delicious dinner with locally sourced ingredients, you will be able to take an evening dip in the outdoor Jacuzzi or warm up in the sauna. Overnight accommodation will be in one of the special Lavvo tents that are furnished with a double bed, a woodstove for heating, and a special ceiling window so that you may keep an eye out for a glimpse of the Northern Lights. If available, you can upgrade your room from Lavvo to Dome, which is equipped with a private sauna and bathroom.

Day 2: Goodbye Alta
Enjoy a filling breakfast before you will make your way back to the airport or city center of Alta. Take with you some amazing memories of your husky sledding adventures in beautiful Norway.

Accommodation:
You may choose between one of the Lavvo tents or Dome as your accommodation. The Lavvos are not equipped with bathroom facilities, but you will find the nearest toilet 10-20 m away and shower facilities 40-50 m from the room. The Dome has its own bathroom and shower and is also equipped with a private sauna.
