Northern Lights Weekend Norway: The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at Tromso Airport, you will be met and taken to your XLyngen accommodation. En route to your accommodation, you will already be able to admire the impressive nature that will surround you during the next few days. The wild coastal landscape will quickly captivate your heart and imagination. Once you have checked in, you can move into your cosy double room. Spend the evening relaxing and look forward to the adventures that lie ahead! In good weather conditions, the hotel's northern location gives you the best chance of sighting the Northern Lights. For the best view, walk a little further out of the way from any artificial light sources.

Day 2: With the Snowmobile into the Wilderness
Fill yourself up with an extensive breakfast in the morning before setting off on your first adventure. On this day, a snowmobile excursion into the Norwegian coastal landscape has been planned for you. After receiving your safety instructions, you can start the engines and head out into the wilderness. You will glide past snow-covered fjords, over frozen lakes, and enjoy breathtaking views. This 2h tour takes you to the most beautiful places in the Lappish wilderness and offers fantastic photo opportunities. Enjoy this special experience, which you are sure to remember for a long time, and immerse yourself in the beauty of this arctic region. Back at the hotel, get yourself warmed up and end this day in a relaxed way. Keep your eyes open, with a little luck the magical Northern Lights will dance above you in the night sky and offer a breathtaking spectacle.
Day 3: Your Time Out in the Far North
Fortify yourself with a rich breakfast and look forward to another day surrounded by the impressive Norwegian nature. This day is for you to spend at your leisure and you have the choice between various activities and excursions, exploring the area, or simply relaxing! There are plenty of exciting excursions to choose from, such as cross-country skiing or dog sledding to name a few. This evening you will have another chance to look for the legendary Northern Lights. An ideal opportunity for this is a northern lights safari with snowshoes (or on foot), which can be booked for an extra charge. If you are interested, you can also book a Northern Lights workshop, where you can learn all about the science behind the mystical glow in the Arctic sky.
Day 4: Departure
After a last breakfast, you will start your journey home. Enjoy the view of the snow-capped fjords one more time en route back to Tromso. You are sure to remember this aurora weekend for a long time, with plenty of unique memories and exciting stories to tell your loved ones when you get home! If you have booked the 5-day trip, this day is also at your leisure and you can book any activities and excursions according to your personal interests. In this case, the departure takes place on the fifth day of the trip.
Accommodation: For this aurora weekend you will be staying in small yet exclusive accommodation. The premises has several Rorbu huts, which house everything you will need (bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom). The fantastic location right in the middle of the impressive fjord landscape is the perfect starting point for excursions into the surrounding nature and at the same time makes a cosy retreat.

Northern Lights Workshop (€83 per person): In this workshop, you will learn everything you need to know about the magical Northern Lights. Listen to the exciting stories about the fascinating natural phenomenon and ask any questions as you like. (about 2 hours).
Snowshoe Tour to Lyngstuva (€178 per person): Dive into the impressive landscape of Norway on snowshoes. On this active excursion, you will hike through the snow-covered fjord landscape and past breathtaking views. You will also get plenty of time for wonderful souvenir photos! (about 4 hours).
Dog Sledding Tour (€344 per person): The dog sledding tour takes you across frozen lakes, through snow-covered forests, and past impressive views of the fjords. Enjoy the silence that surrounds you, interrupted only by the paws of the huskies on the snow cover. Your loyal companions, the fascinating huskies, await you with anticipation and cannot wait to dive into the wilderness with you! (about 5 hours).
Cross-country Skiing (€178 per person): Enjoy the fresh air and the wonderful views during a traditional cross-country skiing tour. You will be impressed by the Norwegian nature and the unique snow-covered landscape. (about 4 hours).
Northern Lights Safari (with snowshoes or on foot) (€140 per person): On snowshoes (or on foot with little snow) you can hunt the magical Northern Lights. You will have the opportunity to dive into the wilderness, moving away from artificial light sources, and looking for a suitable viewpoint. During this two-hour hike, you will have the best chance of observing the Northern Lights (if the weather conditions are good).
Visit to the Aurora Spirit Distillery (€218 per person): Visit the northernmost whiskey distillery on this day trip. After driving through the impressive Lyngen Alps, you will reach the distillery in Årøybukt, where you will gain insights into the workings and production of whiskey. (about 4 - 5 hours including transfer).

You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc).
