Brändön Lodge has 15 cosy cabins that are perfect for a relaxing stay in the middle of nature. Each of them has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, an inviting lounge area and a porch with a view of the sea and the picturesque Luleå archipelago. There are two single beds in each bedroom that can be pushed together to form a double bed in one room on request. You can also add an extra bed in the lounge area for an additional fee, which increases the total occupancy to up to five people. The kitchen contains a small fridge, kettle, coffee/tea equipment and glasses.
After a safety briefing, you will head out into the wilderness of the North (2 persons per snowmobile). During breaks, you have the opportunity to change drivers and admire the incredible views. Meanwhile, your guide will tell you more about the area, the unique nature and the culture of the local people over tea and coffee. You have the choice between a 2-hour or (for an extra charge) 4-hour tour (4 hours only possible from January). The 4-hour drive includes an outdoor lunch during the tour. Single use of a snowmobile is possible for an additional fee. Please note that driving a snowmobile is only allowed from the age of 18 and with a valid driving license! Teenagers can sit behind the driver. Smaller children will be sitting in a sledge behind the guide's snowmobile.
This excursion will take you out into the Arctic night of Swedish Lapland, far from any artificial light sources, in search of the famous Northern Lights (2 persons per snowmobile). Your guide will take you to the best viewpoints in the area surrounding the lodge. There, you can learn more about the unique night sky phenomenon and photograph it. For an extra charge, you can rent your own snowmobile. Please keep in mind that operating a snowmobile is only permitted if you are at least 18 years old and have a valid driving license!
This three-hour snowshoe trip takes you to the snowy forest near the lodge, where you will learn about living in the wilderness. You will, for example, get to know how to build a fire in the snow and how to make tea and coffee over an open fire. Your guide will tell you stories about arctic life and provide intriguing facts about Swedish Lapland's forests, sea, and wildlife. An outdoor lunch will be prepared together during a lunch break in a traditional Sami tent.
A big snowmobile sled will take you onto the frozen sea to attempt ice fishing. Once there, holes are drilled into the ice to allow work to begin. Perch and, sometimes, pike are examples of species that appear frequently. Your guide will inform you about the nature of the frozen sea, current ice conditions, and give recommendations on how to navigate safely in this environment. During a break, you can refuel with hot beverages and sweet bread. You can eat the fish you caught for lunch at the lodge later. The expedition lasts approximately 2 hours.
This guided tour will give you your first taste of cross-country skiing. You will set off into the untouched wilderness surrounding the lodge once everything is ready and the skis are fixed. Take in the peace that surrounds you and draw strength from it. During a break, you can enjoy a hot drink while admiring the winter scenery. The tour will be tailored to your specific needs based on the snow conditions, weather, and participant abilities. The entire trip takes around two hours.
Meet the Sami Jon-Anders and learn more about his culture and reindeer herding. For example, you will discover what the "year of the reindeer" and the eight seasons entail, as well as how the Sami collaborate with reindeer and nature. Following that, you will take a reindeer stroll to a traditional tent. There, by the fire, you'll be able to continue your talk with Jon-Anders and warm yourself with a nice cup of tea. Lunch by the fire is also included in the price.
A transfer will take you to the husky kennel, where the dogs will happily greet you. Following an introduction and safety instructions, the huskies are harnessed to the sled to finally drive out into the pristine wilderness of Swedish Lapland (2 persons per sled). It goes through forests, white landscapes covered with snow, and past a lake. Your husky team will take you to the most stunning locations and show you the best views in the area. During stops, your guide will tell you about the life of a husky musher, the dogs, and arctic nature. The duration of this tour is about 1.5 hours.
After a one-hour transfer to the husky kennel and an introduction with safety instructions, the excited dogs will be prepared for the upcoming tour. Then you'll set off into the wilderness of Swedish Lapland for a 4-hour dog sled tour (30-50 km). During the tour, you will share a sled in pairs (own sled possible for a fee). Navigate your husky team through snow-capped forests and over frozen lakes, and enjoy the pleasant tranquillity that will envelope you. Halfway through the tour, you will take a break for lunch by the open fire to refuel for the last stretch. Back at the kennel, the dogs will be cared for and thanked for their work. The excursion takes about 6 hours. In addition, the transfer takes approx. 2 hours.
You will be transported on a snowmobile sledge to a secret hideaway on the frozen sea in the middle of nowhere. On arrival, a drink awaits you before you can look forward to an excellent 3-course meal. Warm up by the fire and take in the special atmosphere created by candlelight. In between courses, you can go outside and look for the famous Northern Lights. The main course is cooked over an outdoor fire. To round off the meal, dessert and tea or coffee are offered.
On this 2-hour Northern Lights tour, you will make yourself comfortable in a cozy sledge pulled by a snowmobile. Go in search of this unique natural phenomenon and marvel at the star-studded night sky as you ride across the frozen sea. At regular stops, you will not only get exciting insights into the science behind the Northern Lights but also interesting information about the surrounding nature, the sea, and the wildlife. During a longer break, you will make tea, coffee, and hot chocolate at a fire in the snow while you wait for the dancing light in the night sky.
Set out on snowshoes through the forest to learn more about the nature of Swedish Lapland and the Northern Lights. Listen to your guide's interesting explanations about the science behind them and their colors as you look in the sky in search of the natural phenomenon. You'll also get tips on photographing the dancing lights. During a break, you will learn how to make a fire in the snow as well as how to recognize the stars and wildlife tracks. Dinner is served outdoors, where you can get comfortable on reindeer fur under the stars. This tour lasts about 3 hours.
Take a look at the Arctic night sky with retired officer and amateur astronomer Ulf Jonsson (now a consultant in aviation, space and photography). In his own small observatory he will tell you interesting facts about the various objects in the sky, which you can also observe yourself through telescopes and binoculars. In some cases, it is even possible to take your own photo with a system camera or cell phone. In addition, you will hear stories about the constellations and their perception in different cultures. If the moon is shining, it will also be scrutinized with its impressive craters and mountain rages. With a little luck, even the Northern Lights will show up! In this case, you can look forward to tips for good photos. This insight into the wide field of astronomy takes about 3 hours.
On this tour, you will visit the icebreaker ships in Piteå and experience how they make the shipping lanes along the Baltic coast navigable. An approx. one-hour transfer from Brändön or Pine Bay Lodge will take you to Piteå, where you can already see the icebreaker in the harbour. Following that, you will board the ship and witness first-hand how it effortlessly breaks the sea ice. As soon as the icebreaker takes a break on its journey, you can put on a marine survival suit and swim in the sea behind the ship. To warm up afterward, you can drink some tea or coffee.
Sit back and enjoy the private use of the sauna for an hour. In pleasant warmth you can come to rest and relax after an eventful day. Private use of the jacuzzi can also be booked for an extra charge (only available in combination with the sauna in Brändön Lodge).
