Swedens Highlights with Huskies and Snowmobiles: The Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Sweden
Upon arrival at Umeå Airport or Vindeln railway station, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Granö in just over an hour (shorter from Vindeln). There, you will check into your room or cosy hotel cabin and meet one of your guides. You will also be given your outdoor clothing, which you can use throughout your stay. The day ends with dinner and a good's night rest.
Meals are provided from dinner on arrival day until breakfast on departure day.

Day 2: Snowshoeing and snowmobiling with ice fishing
After breakfast, you will head out on a guided snowshoe tour through the surrounding area, giving you the confidence to explore on your own later. During the roughly two-hour hike, you walk through the snow-covered forest while your guide shares fascinating insights into the Arctic winter.
You will return to the lodge for lunch before setting off in the afternoon on a tour with electric snowmobiles (2 people / snowmobile), taking turns driving. Over the course of around three hours, you will travel to several promising fishing spots on a frozen river and lakes to try your hand at ice fishing. Afterwards, you will return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 3: Half-day dogsledding
In the morning, you will enjoy a hearty breakfast before going on a half-day husky sled ride lasting around three hours in total. To start with, there will be a briefing with important safety information so that everyone is well prepared. The eager huskies can hardly wait to get going! Then it is finally time: two people share a sled and take turns driving along the way. Depending on their age and size, children join as passengers with or without an accompanying adult.
After lunch at the lodge, you will have free time to explore the surroundings at your own pace, for example on Sami skis or snowshoes. These are available free of charge throughout your stay. Dinner is served at the lodge as usual.
Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, it’s sadly time to say goodbye and pack your bags. The transfer will take you back to Umeå Airport or Vindeln railway station, where you can continue your journey home – with plenty of new memories in your luggage.
Accommodation:
The lodge is situated in a small village surrounded by the natural beauty of northern Sweden, right on the banks of the tranquil River Umeå. Standard accommodation on this trip consists of double rooms in the lodge’s eco-hotel or small cabins for up to four people. These are equipped with comfortable beds, a toilet and shower. Each double room has a TV, kettle, tea and coffee. The cabins have a small kitchenette and, in addition to a double bed that can be separated into two single beds, a sofa bed. Wi-Fi is available throughout the grounds. All rooms/cabins are non-smoking. On request, you can spend one night in an Aurora treehouse during your stay (at an additional cost, see ‘Extras’).
Important information:
On the tours, two people share a husky sled or a snowmobile.
To be allowed to drive a dog sled themselves, children must generally be at least 15 years old, 155 cm tall and weigh 50 kg. Children aged between 9 and 15 who are at least 120 cm tall may sit alone on a sled driven by an adult. Otherwise, children must sit on the sled alongside an adult. For children aged 5 to 9, there is a temperature limit of minus 18 degrees. Pregnant women are advised against taking the husky tour, as the terrain can be uneven and there is a risk of tipping.
To drive a snowmobile yourself, you must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving licence. Children up to 12 years old sit in a sledge behind the guide’s snowmobile. The snowmobiles are insured; however, depending on local regulations and insurance policies, excesses or liability limits may apply in the event of damage.
If you are travelling with several children, please contact us before booking.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Optional activities have very limited availability; we recommend booking them well in advance, often weeks or months before departure, as they may be fully booked by the time of travel.

31.12.2023 - Traumhaftes Erlebnis
