A quiet winter week in Lapland with different winter activities, plenty of free time, and calm moments in nature around Granö.
This trip combines scheduled winter activities with space to breathe. In Granö you can look forward to a guided husky sled tour with a break by the fire, a visit to a Sami reindeer camp, and a nighttime snowshoe walk with a chance of seeing the northern lights (not guaranteed). Granö in northern Sweden (the Västerbotten region, on the edge of Swedish Lapland) is a place for anyone who wants to enjoy winter actively while also seeking peace and quiet. This week is designed so that families can share standout experiences while still having enough free time to adjust the pace to everyday life and to the children’s needs, recommended from around age 5 (see child rules). Guided excursions set clear anchor points, a husky sled tour with a break by the fire, a visit to a Sami reindeer camp, and an evening snowshoe hike where, with clear skies, northern lights are possible (not guaranteed). A special feature is the Vidde electric snowmobiles. The quiet electric drive supports a relaxed nature experience and provides a smooth ride that also feels comfortable for beginners. Between activities there is time to rest, to explore the surroundings, or to take a day trip to Umeå or Lycksele by bus.
Winter Holiday for the Whole Family in Lapland, The Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Granö and Arrival
After arriving in Granö, you check into your room or cabin and meet your tour guide. Depending on your arrival time, you will receive your winter clothing either on the same day or the next morning. The tour begins with dinner at the lodge, which is ideal for arriving in peace and discussing the week together.
Day 2: Husky Sledding and Fika by the Fire
After breakfast, you will head out on a guided husky sledding tour. For the route, two people share one sled, so the pace feels pleasant and family friendly. Along the way, there is time for a Fika break by the open fire in the winter landscape, before you return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon remains free, and in the evening dinner follows in the lodge.
Day 3: Free Time for Your Own Winter Plans
The day starts with breakfast and then gives you plenty of flexibility. You can plan your own activities around Granö just as easily as an excursion to Umeå or Lycksele by public bus. At midday, the meal is ready at the lodge, after that there is again time for rest, small explorations, or relaxation. The day concludes with dinner.
Day 4: Sami Culture and Reindeer Encounter
After breakfast, you will visit a Sami reindeer camp. There you will learn more about Sami culture and meet the reindeer in a setting designed for respectful interaction. The excursion includes transfers and a traditional Sami lunch and lasts several hours in total. Back in Granö, there will be free time for your own activities before you have dinner at the lodge.
Day 5: Quiet Winter Day and Evening Snowshoe Hike
This day is deliberately kept quiet. After breakfast you have time for your own plans or another excursion into the surrounding area. At midday you have lunch in the lodge, after that there is time to warm up, read, or take short walks. In the evening there is a guided snowshoe hike. By the light of the moon and stars, the route leads through the forest, and with a bit of luck, if the sky is clear, you can observe the northern lights.
Day 6: Vidde E Snowscooter Safari and Ice Fishing
After breakfast, a special item is on the program: the guided safari with Vidde E snowscooters, combined with ice fishing. Two people share one vehicle, which keeps the experience manageable for families. The quiet electric drive supports a calm nature experience, reduces disturbance to wildlife, and ensures a smooth, comfortable ride. After the tour you have lunch, the rest of the day is free, and in the evening you eat together at the lodge.
Day 7: Free Time and a Relaxed Finish
After breakfast, the day is arranged according to your wishes. If you like, use the time for your own activities or an excursion to Umeå or Lycksele. At midday you have lunch in the lodge, then there is time for packing, for some last winter moments, or simply for a break. To round off the trip, you enjoy dinner back at the lodge.
Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, the tour services end. Afterwards, departure takes place.
Accommodation:
This trip includes overnight stays in the Eco Hotel or in a hotel cabin. Cleaning and towel changes are provided on request, otherwise on a regular schedule. For the activities, functional winter clothing is available for the entire period, including polar boots, thermal trousers, a thermal jacket, and gloves, in sizes for children and adults.
Special features:
Due to the cold conditions, this travel package is not recommended for children under 5 years. If younger children participate, the program needs to be adjusted. For the husky sled tour, there are age and size rules for children as passengers, as well as minimum requirements for driving a sled independently. To use a snowmobile, a valid driving licence is required, and on the safari two people share one vehicle. Weather and conditions may require program changes, and the organisation will then adjust the schedule accordingly. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Optional activities have very limited availability; we recommend booking them well in advance, often weeks or months before departure, as they may be fully booked by the time of travel.
Note: We recommend booking additional categories and guided activities directly with the tour package (several weeks or months before arrival), as these may be fully booked at the time of travel. Some activities are only available on certain dates and not for the entire season.

31.12.2023 - Traumhaftes Erlebnis
