Best of Sweden: The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
You will be met upon arrival at Umeå Airport or city or the train station in Vindeln and taken just over an hour to the lodge where your adventure begins (Vindeln transfer is shorter). There you will check into your comfortable rooms or cottages and end the day with a delicious dinner. You will receive your warm winter clothes either this evening or tomorrow morning.

Day 2: Set off into the wilderness with the dog sleds
Set off on an unforgettable two-day husky tour. Experience the excitement and joy of being pulled through the snow-covered landscape by a team of enthusiastic huskies. Here you have to lend a hand! Of course, you will first be given a introduction before you harness the dogs together and venture onto the sled runners yourself (1 person/sled; 2 persons/sled possible on request). The start will be a little noisy and turbulent, but once you're moving, you'll find your rhythm and can enjoy the beauty of nature around you. On the way, you will take a break where you will be served a hot cup of coffee and Swedish "fika" and have the opportunity to take photos. In the evening, you do not return to your accommodation, but spend the night in a rustic wilderness cabin without electricity or running water. You will be given headlamps to look after the dogs and make a fire to warm up the cozy hut. You will be having dinner and spend the night here together with your tour group.
Day 3: Husky tour and return to accommodation
In the morning you take care of the dogs before you enjoy your own breakfast. After that you will prepare your dog sleds and start on another husky tour through the woods. Again, everyone drives their own sled today. Towards afternoon you will return to the lodge, where you can relax the rest of the day and process all those wonderful and countless new impressions.
Day 4: Snowmobile safari and ice fishing
Around midday, you will set off on an exciting snowmobile safari through the dense forests and across frozen lakes of the Swedish winter landscape. The tour features circular electric snowmobiles, developed and built in Sweden. These not only reduce disturbance to wildlife but are also safer and more comfortable to ride, not least because of their more silent electric drive. You will share a snowmobile in pairs and take turns driving. On the way you will stop to try your luck at traditional ice fishing. The whole excursion takes about 3 hours. Afterwards, you will return back to the lodge for another nice dinner.
Day 5: Free Day
After breakfast, enjoy a free day that you can spend exactly as you wish. Why not take part in an additional activity? You can see the options under "extras". Alternatively, you could visit the nearby town of Lycksele and spend the day there doing whatever takes your fancy. In addition, Sami skis and snowshoes are available for you to use free of charge throughout your stay. Dinner will be served at the lodge in the evening.
Day 6: Reindeer Experience
A day dedicated to reindeer lies ahead of you. After breakfast, head out to meet these animals and discover the Sami culture. At the reindeer camp, you will also enjoy a traditional Sami lunch, before heading back to your accommodation after 4.5 hours (2x 45 min transfer). There, you will have the afternoon to yourself and can enjoy the surroundings at your leisure before your dinner is served.
Day 7: Free day
You are free to spend this day as you wish. Relax or explore the surrounding area at your leisure. You have the option of booking additional activities (see "extras"), unwinding in the sauna (at an extra cost) and then venturing into a revitalising ice bath, or simply enjoying the idyllic setting with a good book and a hot coffee or tea. In the evening, you can optionally take part in a snowshoe hike (at an additional cost). If the sky is clear and conditions are right, you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Day 8: Departure
The last day starts with breakfast before you unfortunately have to pack your things and say goodbye. A transfer will take you back to Umeå Airport or city or alternatively the train station in Vindeln, from where you will start your journey home with many new, incomparable memories in your luggage.
Accommodation:
The lodge is in a small village in the wilderness of Northern Lapland. It is located directly on the quiet river Umeå. The standard accommodation on this trip is double rooms in the eco-hotel or small cabins for up to four people. These are equipped with comfortable beds, toilet and shower with towels. Each room has a TV, kettle, tea and coffee. The cabins also have a small kitchenette and, in addition to a double bed that can be pushed apart to make two single beds, a sofa bed. Wifi is available throughout the premises. All rooms and cabins are non-smoking. If you wish, you can spend a night in an Aurora tree house during your stay (extra charge, see "Extras").
One night is spent in a wilderness cabin with communal sleeping quarters, without electricity and running water, where you make a fire to heat the room and the toilet is outside.
Note:
To drive a snowmobile you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Optional activities have very limited availability; we recommend booking them well in advance, often weeks or months before departure, as they may be fully booked by the time of travel.

31.12.2023 - Traumhaftes Erlebnis
