Northern Lights Viewing
Aurora Borealis Arctic Range Adventure Activity
Average Fitness Age 4+
Try to catch a glimpse of one of the Yukon’s most sought-after winter highlights: the Northern Lights in the night sky. On this guided tour, you’ll travel with a guide to a specially designated viewing site, far from the city lights, to get the best possible view of this natural spectacle when conditions are right. You’ll also learn how it occurs—a chemical light reaction when solar energy interacts with the Earth’s atmosphere—and why the Northern Lights have always fascinated people and feature in many legends of the Yukon First Nations. The tour starts at 11:20 p.m., with pickup at the Sternwheeler Hotel. Included are transportation, guided viewing (subject to weather conditions), a photo service, and snacks and drinks. Winter clothing is not included (rental available). Last-minute changes are possible and are at the guide’s discretion. Duration: 4.3 h.
