Northern Lights Dreams in the Yukon Wilderness: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
After your arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed and taken to your hotel in the city center of Whitehorse. The hotel is within walking distance of the main attractions, restaurants, banks and stores. At an informative meeting, you will be informed about the optional tours, can sign up for them and will be prepared for your upcoming adventure. Use the time afterwards to rent suitable winter clothing (optional, extra charge), go shopping or enjoy a dinner to your own taste (not included). At 22:00 you will set off on an aurora observation tour. In a cozy, heated hut or tent, equipped with hot drinks and snacks, you wait for this fascinating natural spectacle. You return to the hotel at around 2:30 a.m. and can recover from your first exciting day in the Yukon.
Day 2: Setting off into the wilderness
Your real outdoor adventure begins today! Look forward to leaving civilization behind and immersing yourself in the untouched wilderness! Meet in the hotel lobby at 9 am for your journey to the wilderness hut. Your guide will check your winter clothing so that you are fully prepared. Have your shopping list ready as you'll be heading to the supermarket to pick up supplies for two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners as well as snacks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, possibly a bottle of wine and anything else you may need for your stay in the wilderness. After shopping, you leave the city via the Alaska Highway and after just 25 kilometers the traffic becomes quieter. After about an hour's drive, you reach your destination via a narrow, winding road with rolling hills and a beautiful landscape of frozen swamps, mountains and forests. The hut, preheated with a wood-burning stove, is already waiting for you. The cabins are equipped with cooking utensils, cups, pots and pans. The property is located directly on the lake and includes four cabins within walking distance. A heated wash house with toilets and hot showers is available around the clock. Your guide will give you an introduction to the area, show you the trails and answer all your questions. You will also find out from where you can best observe the Northern Lights after dark. Strap on your snowshoes and explore the paths up the hill or out onto the lake (ask your guide about safe paths on the lake!). You may also wish to take part in an optional tour (see “Extras”). Please book this in advance so that availability can be guaranteed. The guide will drive back to town and you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the tranquillity of nature. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to use the wood-heated sauna before heading out in search of the Northern Lights.

This day is at your leisure. You have the opportunity to take part in optional day tours, which must be booked in advance. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy a relaxing day in the wilderness. Take your time getting up, take a leisurely snowshoe hike out onto the frozen lake or the hill and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee by the window of your cabin while taking in the spectacular view of the lake. In the evening, you can go hunting for the Aurora Borealis again and, with a bit of luck, experience the magic of the dancing lights in the night sky.
Day 4: Return to Whitehorse
Enjoy the morning at your own pace or book an optional half-day excursion in the morning. At 2 pm you will be transferred back to your hotel in the city center. At 10 p.m. you will set off again to watch the Northern Lights, including snacks and hot drinks. You return to the hotel at around 2:30 a.m., where a last restful night's sleep awaits you.

Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
Note: We recommend booking additional categories and guided activities directly with the tour package (several weeks or months before arrival), as these may be fully booked at the time of travel. Some activities are only available on certain dates and not for the entire season.
