"Welcome to the big shoes club with a "seven-star" smoke sauna!"
The Isokenkäisten Klubi (Big Shoes Club) is a true family business. The story of this unique lodge began in 1974 when Aimo Kämäräinen bought a piece of land near Kuusamo. In 1990 the farm was opened as a tourist business. The first guests were mostly high-ranking personalities in Finland. These are colloquially known as isokenkäiset (big shoes) in Finnish. This is how the Isokenkäisten Klubi got its name. The majority of the buildings at Isokenkäisten Klubi were self-built by Aimo Kämäräinen. Today the company is run by Aimo's two daughters.
Isokenkäisten Klubi is located in eastern Finland, about 30-45 minutes drive from the cities of Ruka and Kuusamo. If you are looking for a clear break, then you have come to the right place. The Isokenkäisten Klubi is very secluded in the middle of untouched nature. Here you will be able to forget all everyday worries.
You can choose between many different types of accommodation. Do you prefer a normal hotel room? Then there are simple rooms with shared bathrooms in the main building or slightly more upscale rooms with private bathrooms in the wilderness hotel Kortteeri. Are you traveling with a large group and want to stay all together? Then you can choose between three different holiday homes. For the more adventurous there is an Aurora hut floating on the lake.
In addition, all activities that you always wanted to try in Lapland are offered here. Husky tours, snowmobile rides and snowshoe hikes in the winter. Bear watching, husky hikes and berry picking in the summer. Are you a fan of saunas? Then you are definitely right here. The "seven-star" smoke sauna can only be found here.
