Hop on a snowmobile and enjoy the speed as well as the Arctic wilderness of North Finland! You will explore the various natural surroundings of Saija Lodge on day trips, stay overnight in a wilderness cabin and have lunch at a campfire.
Day 1: Arrival
On arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed and taken to the lodge. Enjoy your first home-cooked Finnish dinner that evening and don't forget to keep an eye out for the Northern Lights after dark! The on-site travel services start with dinner on the first day and end with breakfast on the last day.
Day 2: Explore the surroundings
After a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, it's time to explore the surrounding area. You will receive information about the program for the coming days and will be provided with suitable clothing for the polar temperatures. Use the free time to get an overview of this beautiful place. Enjoy the private sauna in your apartment and relax in the cozy atmosphere.

Day 3: First snowmobile ride
After breakfast, you will get a helmet and the guide will give you a briefing on snowmobiling techniques. Then it's time to set off on an approximately 30 km test drive on your own snowmobile through the beautiful countryside, each on their own snowmobile. After that you can relax during the afternoon and look forward to a nice dinner at the lodge in the evening and maybe even seeing the Northern Lights afterwards with a little luck.
Day 4 & 5: Snowmobile tour with overnight stay in the wilderness
Today you embark on a 2-day safari that takes you through the breathtaking winter landscape of Finnish Lapland. The distance is about 80-120 km per day. You will spend the night in a cozy wilderness cabin. Breakfast and dinner are served in the cabin and lunch is served around the campfire en route. Keep your eyes open this evening, as you are far away from any light pollution and have the best conditions to see the famous Northern Lights dancing in the sky. After a night in the cozy wilderness cabin (shared accommodation), you make your way back to the lodge. You will again be traveling between 80 and 120 km through the beautiful and untouched winter landscape.
Day 6: Snowmobile day tour
Start the day with a delicious breakfast. Then make your way back to your snowmobiles. Today's day tour includes another 90-120 km of snowmobile adventure. You will have lunch around a campfire in the open air. In the evening, a delicious dinner awaits you at the lodge and you can relax in your private sauna.
Day 7: Free day
Your last day in the far north is at your leisure and can be used for other exciting activities (see "Extras") or simply to relax - just as you wish! The optional activities you can add to your stay include cycling in the snow (fat biking), cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing or a visit to a reindeer farm. Of course, you have the opportunity to go on husky safaris of varying lengths. You can also enjoy one afternoon of your trip in the smoke sauna, that is already included in the tour price, as well as a Northern Lights evening. Plan the day as you wish and end the evening with a traditional Finnish dinner.
Day 8: Departure
Enjoy a final delicious breakfast surrounded by beautiful nature. A transfer will take you back to the airport from where you will leave with countless new experiences as well as many wonderful memories that will last a lifetime!
Accommodation:
You will spend most of the nights of this tour in a cosy apartment with its own sauna. The hotel is built entirely of wood and conveys a traditional and authentic atmosphere. Located directly on Lake Jokijärvi, this is the perfect starting point for your unique excursions. Each apartment has its own main entrance, separate sleeping and living area, toilet, shower, and private sauna. You spend one night in a rustic wilderness cabin without running water, or inside toilet. A sauna and outdoor toilet is available.
Note:
To drive a snowmobile, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate). Show all dates
