The Cairns invites you to an unforgettable time! "Cairn" is a Gaelic word that describes a pile of stones that points hikers in the right direction. The Simpson family chose the name "The Cairns" not only because such piles of stones can be found scattered throughout Lake Tekapo. But also because you have set yourself the same goal: to show your guests the way in and around Lake Tekapo.

The Cairns is located on New Zealand's South Island, approximately 2.5 hours south of Christchurch. Here you will stay directly in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.

The four different lodges offer a cozy ambience with modern amenities. Each accommodation is furnished with great attention to detail and care. Here you can relax, play a round of golf, visit the petting zoo, or explore Lake Tekapo the original way: on horse backs! If it's dark, it's best to stay awake a little longer.
