The Rainforest Retreat prides itself on caring for the environment and upholding the Tiaki Promise. Tiaki means caring for New Zealand including the environment and people. Yesterday, today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and for all generations to come.

The Rainforest Retreat is located in the village of Franz Josef, which is on the west coast of the South Island. The glacier of the same name is nearby.

Everyone will find suitable accommodation here. From dormitories, campsites, normal double rooms, small cabins, unusual tree houses, to luxurious lodges – everything is available. During the day you can book glacier hikes, paddle comfortably across the lake in a kayak, go on a quad bike ride or, if brave enough, go skydiving! In the evening, keep your eyes open for a glimpse of the Southern Lights!
