Winter holidays on snowmobiles & dog sleds: Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
After having arrived at the airport, you will be picked up and brought to your accommodation for the duration of your stay – the hotel Iso-Syöte. Once you have checked in and had a chance to refresh yourself after your journey, you can enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant. Get a good night's rest in your cozy double room so you are ready for the adventures that lie ahead of you!
Day 2: Adventure by Snowmobile through Lapland's Wilderness
After a tasty breakfast, you will have some free time to explore your surroundings. Then get ready to start your engines as you head out on a thrilling snowmobile safari (2 persons per snowmobile)! Your journey will take you through snow-covered forests, across frozen lakes, and through some of the most beautiful scenery you have ever seen. A quick stop midway through your journey for hot drinks and a snack will give you time to appreciate the peace and quiet of the wilderness. After approximately 3 hours, return to your hotel in the evening, where you can reflect on the excitement of the day.
Day 3: Meet your Husky Team
Another day of adventure awaits you! After breakfast, you will climb on snowmobiles again, which will take you to meet some very happy four-legged creatures! It is time to meet the huskies, who will be very excited to see you. After a short introduction to dog sledding, you will be ready to drive your very own husky team (2 persons per sled). An about 6 km long safari will follow, where you will go through the snowy wilderness and ice-covered swamps in the Syöte area. There will be several stops so that you can switch drivers and take some photos to make lasting memories of this incredible day. The tour lasts around 3 hours, after which you will have some time to spend at leisure in the afternoon.
Day 4: With the Huskies through Lapland's Wilderness
Ready for more husky adventure? Today you will go on a full-day husky tour through some of the most picturesque and untouched terrain in the Syöte area. After breakfast, you will be brought to the husky farm and get another quick session on how to drive the sled before you head out with your own team of excited huskies (2 persons per sled). Along the way, you will swap drivers and have the possibility of taking more photos of this breath-taking experience. On your return, you will take care of the dogs before enjoying an outdoor lunch by the open fire. In total, this tour will take about 4 hours before you are back at the hotel. Unwind there in the evening, perhaps enjoying a relaxing swim or sauna before a good night's rest.
Day 5: Reindeer Farm and Snowshoeing
Hopefully, you have recharged over the night, as today is another day full of fun and adventure! After breakfast, you will go to a nearby reindeer farm by snowmobile, where you can get up close with these majestic creatures. You will find out more about the history and life of reindeer and their herders, and will have the opportunity to experience a reindeer sleigh ride. Hot drinks and snacks are included. Back at the hotel, get ready to try one of the most traditional forms of transportation in the far north – snowshoeing. Your trip starts in the afternoon with instructions on how to use the snowshoes. You will then head out into the beautiful, snow-covered hills around Iso-Syöte, where you may see some of the birds and animals native to the area. The tour lasts about 2 hours and includes a short break with hot drinks and cookies.
Day 6: Lapish Leisure - Ice Fishing
Your last day of exciting activities in this outstanding part of the world will take you on a traditional Lappish pastime – ice fishing. After breakfast, you will go to a nearby frozen lake by car and learn the techniques to catch your very first fish! Hot drinks and snacks will be served by an open fire. The trip will last about 3 hours in total. In the afternoon, you will have some time at your leisure to explore the area some more, book another optional activity, or simply relax and enjoy the facilities of your accommodation, including swimming, a hot sauna (included), and even some arctic spa treatments (not included). Enjoy a last dinner at the hotel restaurant and a final night in your comfortable hotel room.
Day 7: Departure
After one last breakfast, a transfer will take you back to the airport for your onward journey, taking with you many amazing memories of your time snowmobiling and husky sledding in the wilderness of Finnish Lapland.
Accommodation:
During this tour, your accommodation is the beautiful Hotel Iso-Syöte, which will spoil you with its panoramic glass windows and a view of the unspoiled forests and fells around the Iso Syöte fjell. The comfortable rooms are cozy and contain two separate beds that can be pushed together for one double bed, a private bathroom with shower, toilet, and hair dryer, and amenities such as a TV and a seating space. There is also room for an additional bed if required. Room upgrades (see "Extras") are available upon request.
Catering:
This tour will provide you with breakfast only. Coffee and cookies/snacks are served on some of the excursions. Each additional meal can be eaten in the hotel restaurant. Dinner can be booked beforehand for the whole stay.
Important Information:
In December, instead of the full-day husky tour, there is an approx. 12 km long husky tour, where you share a sled in pairs and travel for two to two and a half hours, including transfer to the husky farm.
This tour is suitable for all ages, but young children will not be able to drive their own snowmobile or dog sled team and will instead need to ride with the guide. To drive a snowmobile, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driving license. Your liability in case of an accident is €1.000 (per accident).

The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc).
