The happy huskies are waiting to go on a discovery tour with you!
The winter wonderland trip to Lapland is an absolute highlight for every snow and winter lover. The breathtaking beauty of the Swedish wilderness will inspire you while you explore the untouched landscape by husky sled, snowmobile and on snowshoes. In the evening you can marvel at the dancing northern lights with a bit of luck.
Winter Wonderland: Holidays in Lapland - The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
You will be met upon arrival at Umeå Airport or train station in the afternoon and drive just over an hour to the lodge where your adventure begins. There you will check into your comfortable rooms or cottages and end the day with a delicious dinner.
Day 2: Snowshoeing
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before strapping on your snowshoes and setting off on a hike through the white winter landscape. Explore the surrounding nature and get to know the far north from its most beautiful side. After 2 hours, you will return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon is at your leisure. Throughout the week, you have free access to shovels, which you can use to build your own sculptures or a castle out of snow. If you're in the mood for speed, you can borrow snow mattresses free of charge and sledge down the hill. You will be back at the lodge for dinner.
All pictures of this partner Day 3: How to make a fire in the snow
After breakfast you will learn how to make a fire in the snow or ice yourself. Which wood should be used and what do you need to consider in terms of safety? Your guide will be happy to answer all your questions. For lunch, you will grill sausages and marshmallows over an open fire. You can spend the afternoon as you wish, for example, doing one of the many additional activities (see extras).
Day 4: Snowmobile safari and free time
Today you will set off on an exciting snowmobile safari through the dense forests and across the frozen lakes of the Swedish winter landscape. You will share a snowmobile in pairs and take turns driving. Together you explore your surroundings and can enjoy the nice views you visit along the way. Winter in the far north is something very special, among other because of the snow-covered trees, which almost look like unique snow sculptures. The entire safari takes around 1.5 hours. Afterwards, you return to the lodge for lunch and have some free time before a delicious dinner is served.
Day 5: Husky tour through the Swedish winter landscape
Another highlight of the trip awaits you today: a three-hour husky experience for the whole family! At the husky kennel, you can cuddle and play with the dogs while learning more about these fascinating animals. To warm up again, gather around a campfire with hot chocolate and listen to the exciting stories of the mushers. Finally, the huskies will pull you out on a tour into the wilderness. You sit together on a big sled, which is steered by your guide. Back at the lodge, you can look forward to lunch and some time for relaxation. You can also pursue your own activities until dinner.
Day 6: Your personal adventure
Today is at your leisure. How about a visit to the Runes sledging hill? Race down the slope on sledges or snow mattresses and enjoy a fun day in the snow! On the hill, you will find a cabin and an open shelter where you can grill marshmallows and drink hot chocolate by the fire. Lunch and dinner are served in the lodge as usual. You can also take a packed lunch with you instead of eating at the lodge. Before going to bed, you should look up at the starry sky to watch out for the Northern Lights.
Day 7: Reindeer Experience
A day fully dedicated to reindeer and their history lies ahead of you. After breakfast, head out to meet the reindeer, discover the Sami culture and the role these majestic animals play in the daily life of Lapland. Lunch will be provided during the excursion, which lasts about 4.5 hours in total (incl. transfer). Afterwards, you will have the rest of the day to yourself and enjoy the surroundings at your leisure before your dinner is served.
Day 8: Departure
The last day starts with breakfast before you unfortunately have to pack your things and say goodbye. A transfer will take you back to Umeå airport or train station, from where you will start your journey home with many new, incomparable memories in your luggage.
Accommodation:
The lodge is located in a small village in the wilderness of Northern Sweden. It is located directly on the quiet river Umeå. Each room has a TV, kettle, tea and coffee. The cabins also have a small kitchenette and, in addition to a double bed that can be pushed apart to make two single beds, a sofa bed. Wifi is available throughout the premises. All rooms are non-smoking. Free use of Sami ski, snowshoes and snow mattresses is included for the whole stay.
If you wish, you can spend a night in an Aurora tree house (extra charge, see "Extras").
Note:
To drive a snowmobile you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. Children will sit in a sledge pulled by the guide's snowmobile. The deductible in the event of damage to the snowmobile is max. 6000 SEK (approx. 540 €).
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
Note: We recommend booking additional categories and guided activities directly with the tour package (several weeks or months before arrival), as these may be fully booked at the time of travel. Some activities are only available on certain dates and not for the entire season.

31.12.2023 - Traumhaftes Erlebnis
