The Spectacular Norway in Winter: The Itinerary
Day 1: You're Heading North
On the first day, you will travel by a Dash 8 (propeller plane) from Tromsø to Sørkjosen. At a low altitude, you can fly over the impressive Lyngen Alps and get an incredible first impression of the Norwegian Arctic. The flight duration is around 25 minutes. At the airport, you will be met and taken to the Reisafjord Hotel, which is located directly on the Reisafjord. From your room and the restaurant, you will have a wonderful view looking out over the fjord. In the afternoon, you will meet a local artist in Kronebutikken, a house dating back to the early 19th century. She will give you an insight into life in the far north and provide you with exciting information about the area. After dinner, you will start your first guided Northern Lights tour. After a short drive, you will find a sheltered place with snowshoes or by foot. Get cosy by the fire with some hot drinks and wait for the magic to happen! Hopefully, you will see the spectacular Northern Lights dancing above you. At midnight, you will return to the hotel and get a good night of sleep.

Day 2: On the Dog Sled Through the Reisatal
After a hearty breakfast, you will go on a dogsled through the beautiful surrounding nature, passing through frozen moors and snow-covered forests. This day will be spent in harmony with nature and combines the beauty of the far north with winter activities. After about 30 minutes, you can take a break in a lavvo and enjoy a tasty meal. You can swap position on the dogsled and take it in turns with your partner steering the sled. Back at the hotel, you can drink coffee and make delicious waffles – a typical Norwegian tradition. After dinner, embark on another guided Northern Lights tour, once again returning around midnight.
Day 3: Snowmobile Tour and Ice Fishing
Start the day with a hearty breakfast first thing in the morning and then get ready for some adventure! During a snowmobile tour, you will drive over to a frozen mountain lake. You will also get the opportunity to try out traditional snowshoes and ice fishing. A warm meal is included during this tour. In the afternoon, you will drive to Skjervøy where you will take the famous Hurtigruten to Tromsø (departure: 19:45 - arrival 23:45). On the Hurtigruten, you can enjoy a delicious dinner (price not included) whilst driving past the impressive Lyngen Alps. If you are lucky, you will see the northern lights dancing in the sky. Your journey will end here. Alternatively, you have the option of booking additional nights at the Reisafjord Hotel.
Optional: Extending your polar adventure
If you opt for the Reisafjord Hotel, you will enjoy a delicious breakfast and can then choose between various activities that can be booked as an option. These include, for example, a guided cross-country ski tour through the impressive landscape or a moose safari with snowshoes and lunch by the open fire.
How about a snowmobile tour or a visit to the Sami camp? Since you can only participate in one of the activities offered on day 3, if you choose to extend your tour, you will have the opportunity to experience the other activities as well. Another exciting and very special excursion available to you is a four-hour whale safari. From November to January, the orcas and humpback whales hunt for herrings in the fjords around Skjervøy. You will go out by boat to watch these impressive animals. Included in the price of the excursion are warm clothing, hot drinks, and snacks.
Arrival is possible on all weekdays, except Saturdays. Please contact us if you wish a different date.
Accommodation: You will be accommodated in the Reisafjord Hotel, located directly on the Reisafjord with a fantastic view. This location offers stunning views of the fjord landscape and the Norwegian Sea. This cosy hotel will be your retreat during your exciting winter vacation. The price refers to the accommodation for a double room.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay.
