Compact Winter Adventure with Huskies

Spend six days at a husky farm in the Swedish winter and get to know life with these special dogs. On two days, you’ll go on a tour with the large husky team: you’ll settle in comfortably as a passenger on the sled while your guide leads you safely along the various trails. You’ll also go on snowshoe hikes accompanied by the huskies and a snowmobile tour, complemented by quiet moments around the campfire and Swedish fika. You’ll stay comfortably on the farm and start your active days with a hearty breakfast. In the evenings, freshly prepared meals will keep you warm, while outside, with a little luck, there’s a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights.

Compact Winter Adventure with Huskies: the itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Östersund and transfer to the husky farm
Upon your arrival in Östersund, you will be picked up from the airport or train station and transferred to the husky farm located between Lake Stor Bakvattnet and Ansättenfjäll. You will be accompanied on your way by the peaceful winter landscape. Once you arrive, you will check into the cozy cabin and get to know the surroundings. Meals begin with dinner.

Day 2 - 5: Various adventures with the huskies
A hearty breakfast sets you up for a great day. Afterward, you’ll set out on various tours and excursions. On two days, a guided sled ride awaits you with a large husky team of 10 to 14 dogs, accompanied by an experienced musher and personal guide. He or she will drive you safely along the snow-covered trails while you sit on the sled and take in the natural surroundings. Back at the farm, the days come to a close with a freshly prepared dinner.

During your stay, you’ll also go snowshoeing through the deep snow—accompanied by one of the huskies! Along the way, you’ll stop at a quiet spot for a Swedish fika (coffee break) by the campfire before heading back with your bodies warmed up again.


On another day, you’ll change your perspective and drive a snowmobile up into the fell landscape (2 people / snowmobile). Sweeping views, crisp air, and a sense of freedom define this day, with the winter mountains providing the backdrop.

On the last evening, you will gather for a special farewell dinner and reminisce together about the best moments of your winter adventure.

Day 6: Breakfast and Return Trip to Östersund
Meals end after breakfast. After taking one last look at the huskies and the snow-covered surroundings, you’ll head back to Östersund.

Accommodation:
You’ll be staying in the cozy vacation home at Taikuri Farm, located between Lake Stor Bakvattnet and Ansättenfjäll. The vacation home is approximately 90 m² and features a dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, a sofa bed, two bathrooms (one with a shower, one with a washing machine), and three bedrooms (two with two single beds in each, one with a single bed that can be extended to a double bed).

Requirements:
This tour requires participants to be physically fit and in good health. The weight limit is 90 kg to ensure that pulling the sled, along with winter clothing and other equipment, does not become too strenuous for the dogs.

Please bring your own winter clothing for this trip. Overalls in standard sizes, boots, and gloves can be rented on site for a fee.

Meals:
Full board on this trip includes breakfast, a Swedish fika (coffee break), freshly prepared dinners, and a special farewell dinner on the 5th day.
