Winter expedition with huskies in breathtaking nature: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
At Arvidsjaur airport you will be welcomed by your host Konstantin. After about an hour's drive through the beautiful Swedish countryside, you will arrive at the husky farm and settle into your cosy accommodation for the next week. It is a traditionally kept Swedish country house with all modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi and other benefits. At the delicious welcome dinner (Konstantin is a trained chef) in the main house, you will discuss the course of the coming, eventful days.

Day 2: The first sledding tour
After feeding the dogs, a rich breakfast will be waiting for you. If you want, you are welcome to help to feed the huskies. Look forward to the exciting days ahead of you and get to know the friendly and cuddly dogs. After breakfast, there will be a detailed musher workshop and kennel tour, followed by a first test drive through snowy landscapes. After about an hour you will return and after the dogs are taken care of, a delicious lunch will be served. In the afternoon, you will have free time and the opportunity to spend time with the dogs and ask questions about the animals and mushing. After the dogs get their food, dinner will be ready in the main house.
Day 3: Snowshoe tour & Ice fishing
Today, after breakfast you will start on a snowshoe hike. It will lead you through the Swedish nature and during a break you can refresh yourself with snacks and hot drinks. After you have rested your legs a bit, you will continue your walk through the deep snow. At the end of the day, you will catch your dinner in the traditional way by going ice fishing. Your host will show you everything you need to know.
Day 4: Get to know the breathtaking nature on skids
After breakfast, today's two-hour husky tour will take you through a beautiful snow-covered landscape. Enjoy the view from your husky sled and listen to the paws of your faithful companions on the snow cover. You will drive with your own team over lakes, through snowy forests and over small mountains. At noon you will drive back to the farm and strengthen yourself with a warm meal. The afternoon is free for you. How about ice fishing, a snowshoe hike (snowshoes and ice fishing equipment are available free of charge) or a relaxing stay in the sauna? In the evening, a traditional Swedish meal is waiting for you.
Day 5: Into the wilderness with your own husky team
Today you will set off after breakfast for a full-day dog sled tour with overnight stay in a wilderness hut. Snacks for humans and animals will be packed, so that nobody has to starve on the tour. Immediately after working together to prepare everything and harness the dogs, the adventure begins. Your huskies take you over long lakes, past small sleepy islands. Enjoy the peace and quiet as you glide over the snow. After a few hours and a break for lunch by the open fire, you will reach the small remote wilderness cabin. There, the first thing you will do is take care of the dogs. After that you will take care of yourself by chopping wood, heating the hut and preparing the sleeping places. Enjoy the tranquillity of the wilderness with the presence of the dogs sleeping contentedly in their straw beds. In the evening, prepare a hearty meal on the wood stove. After all the work is done, it is time for your well-deserved night's rest.
Day 6: Husky tour with overnight in the wilderness
Your morning begins with feeding the huskies before preparing your own breakfast. After all the preparations have been completed, you will set off for your next full-day tour. Explore the snowy winter landscape with its white trees and frozen lakes together with your dogs. After your lunch by the open fire you have gathered new strength for the last part of the tour. You will return to the wilderness hut for dinner, where you will enjoy the pleasant silence once again.
Day 7: Husky tour back to the farm
After a restful night in the wilderness hut, the day starts with taking care of the dogs. After that, you will prepare your own breakfast and pack everything in your sledges to go on the last stage. Between mountains and valleys, dense forests and frozen lakes, you make your way. Passing reindeer gates and maybe with the sighting of a moose, today's route takes you back to the husky farm. About half of the way, you will stop for an outdoor lunch. The dogs will get some snacks as well, and then tackle the last few miles. In the end you will be rewarded with even more fantastic views and ultimately return to the farm. Once there, you will thank the dogs with extensive petting and cuddling. After everything is put away, you can relax until dinner.
Day 8: Journey home
Today it is time to say goodbye. After breakfast, you will be taken to the airport with many great memories of your beautiful husky week in Sweden.
Requirements:
This trip requires your active participation. You will be out with the huskies for several days and work together as a team. You should be fit enough to walk several meters through deep snow and jump off the sled uphill to push and help the dogs. Upon arrival at the wilderness cabin, the dogs are taken care of first and everything is cleaned up before you start preparing dinner. This includes chopping wood, starting a fire and melting snow to have water.
Accommodation:
On the husky farm, you will stay in the guest house, which is about 40 meters away from the main house. The guest house has several bedrooms spread over two floors. There is a bathroom with sink and toilet on the upper floor as well as on the lower floor. On the lower floor, the shower is shared by all guests. A lounge and cooking facilities are available and can be shared. Extra beds and cribs are available. Meals are always served in the main house. Free wifi is available. Wilderness overnight without running water or electricity in shared accommodation.
Arrival:
It is best to fly to Arvidsjaur (AJR) airport, from there you will be picked up and taken to the husky farm at no additional cost. The drive takes about an hour and can be done at any arrival or departure time. For especially early or late flights (before 07:00 or after 21:00) please consult us first.
Alternatively, you can fly to Stockholm and then take the night train (private sleeping compartment) to Jörn. From there, bus number 26 continues to Arvidsjaur.
Likewise, you can travel to Luleå Airport (LLA) and from there board bus number 221 to Arvidsjaur.
Transfers to/from Skellefteå (SFT), Luleå (LLA) airports and Jörn train station are generally possible, but involve additional transfer costs and arrangements.
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate).
