Wilderness Tour in the Yukon: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
You will arrive in Whitehorse and have time to relax, explore the city, and prepare for the coming days on the dog sled. If you wish, you can book a Northern Lights programme, which launches in the late evening and gives you all the information you will need about the beautiful Aurora Borealis.
Day 2: Getting to know you
After pick-up from the Best Western Gold Rush Inn hotel lobby in the morning, you will be transferred to Lake Laberge (about 45 minutes away) where you'll be eagerly awaited by the excited Huskie. These adorable pooches can't wait to get to know you better and set off on adventures together! You will learn everything you need to know about caring for your four-legged companions and master the sled and equipment. After familiarising yourself with the sled and your dog team, you will cross the lake to the husky farm and the wilderness hut. After a delicious dinner starts the "dog sledding school" in which you will receive a lot of information about the techniques of this fascinating sport. Day 3: Your first dog sled tour
After a restful night of sleep and a hearty breakfast, your guide will explain the itinerary for today. You can expect a four-hour-long mushing extravaganza on the untouched snow; exploring the wide expanse of the Canadian wilderness, heading over snowy hills and racing through spectacular snow-covered forests. Lunch will be enjoyed around a campfire during the tour. The way back is planned so that you will arrive in time for dinner in the wilderness hut. Keep your eyes open in the evening, as with a little luck, you will see the dancing Northern Lights above you in the night sky.
Days 4 & 5: Canada's beauty and wildlife
On these two days, you will explore some of the beautiful trails with your dog team while building a bond with your dogs and improving your mushing skills. You will get to know and love their individual personalities and appreciate their neverending enthusiasm! Halfway, take a break around a campfire and enjoy a winter picnic together. After a day of exploring the beautiful landscape and hopefully spotting some native wildlife, you will head back to enjoy a delicious dinner and a restful night's sleep in the cabin. 6: Uphill through the wilderness
Today you have will have plenty of time to enjoy the breathtaking wilderness before your departure tomorrow. The dog sled will take you across the frozen lake, and from there a van will transport you back to your Whitehorse hotel. Here, too, you can optionally complete this short trip with a guided Northern Lights programme.
