A touch of Lapland: the itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Settling In at the Lodge
Upon your arrival at the airport or train station in Kiruna, you will be picked up and transferred to your accommodation, the Northern Lights Lodge, in about 15 minutes. There you will check into your double room, meet the team, and receive your Arctic clothing for your stay. In the evening, a three course dinner awaits you, featuring ingredients from the region, capturing flavors from Lapland’s mountains and forests, and interpreted in a modern Nordic style. Meals start with dinner today.

Day 2: Sami Culture and Reindeer Encounter
A day dedicated to Sápmi. Together with a local Sami guide, you will gain insights into traditions, the close connection to nature, and lifestyle of the indigenous people. You will get close to the reindeer and hear stories from the tundra by the fire, accompanied by a hearty homemade lunch. Back at the lodge, the evening ends with another three course dinner, calm and fitting for the long winter nights. If you'd like, you can then take part in a Northern Lights snowmobile safari to the summit of Mt Ednamvarri for an additional fee (see "Extras" tab; please book before arrival).
Day 3: Dog Sledding
On a dog sled ride through the forest landscapes of Oinakka, you glide in a spacious wooden sled past pine forests, frozen lakes and quiet wetlands. Your guide skillfully steers the sled along snow-covered trails and you sit comfortably in the front of the sled to enjoy the ride. Along the way, a break by the campfire provides a classic Swedish Fika (coffee break) with hot drinks and homemade cookies, while the guide talks about Lapland traditions, Sami culture and the wildlife. For an additional fee, you can swap this tour for one where you get to drive the sled yourself (2 people/sled, taking turns driving). After the three course dinner back at the lodge, it's the perfect time to check the Northern Lights forecast, for example via an app. Perhaps conditions will be good for seeing them?
Day 4: Snowmobile Safari to a Viewpoint
Today, you follow quiet, scenic routes on a guided snowmobile safari deep into the Arctic wilderness and to a great viewpoint (2 people/snowmobile). From there, wide views open out over Lapland and all the way to Sweden’s highest mountain range. A break at the frozen lake adds a calm accent, with freshly brewed coffee by the fire and Swedish Fika. Depending on the setting there is even the possibility to try ice fishing. Back at the lodge, you enjoy a two course lunch and in the evening the three course dinner again. You want to end your trip in a truly special way? For an additional fee, you can book a relaxing bath in the hot tub on the lodge's rooftop (see "Extras"). If the sky is clear and conditions are right, you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Day 5: Departure
Meals end after breakfast. You will then be transferred back to the airport ot train station in Kiruna, taking many wonderful memories of your time in Lapland home with you.
Accommodation:
During your trip, you will stay in a beautifully situated lodge on the outskirts of the town of Kiruna in Swedish Lapland with direct access to untouched Arctic nature. The lodge is small and family-run and offers a very warm, cozy and peaceful stay.
It has seven double rooms, each with a loft and private bathroom. There is also an inviting open plan lounge with a fireplace and comfortable chairs to sit back and relax with a drink, as well as a relaxation area with sauna and an outdoor hot tub. All meals are served in a dining room next to the lounge. Wifi is available.
You can use snowshoes and cross-country skis at the lodge at any time free of charge and make your own tour through the beautiful winter landscape.
Important information:
To drive a snowmobile, you have to be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Optional activities have very limited availability; we recommend booking them well in advance, often weeks or months before departure, as they may be fully booked by the time of travel.
