Look forward to an adventure of a different kind: You will explore the Swedish taiga together with a small group of maximum four people and your guide on dog sleds! First you will get an introduction and a test drive, then you will go for two times two days in the middle of the wilderness, without electricity or running water. You will work together with your dogs as a team and experience a few wonderful days in the deep snow of Swedish Lapland. Between the two overnight tours you will have a rest day at the camp, where you can go snowshoeing or skiing.
Day 1: Arrival
On Friday you will arrive in Vilhelmina around afternoon and will be picked up at the airport or bus station. You can settle into your comfortable double room stress-free before you all get to know each other over dinner. You get the first information about the possibilities to arrange the coming week and you get to pick your guides brains about everything you want to know!

Day 2: Briefing and first sled tour
After breakfast you will visit the huskies for the first time, cuddling included! Now you will get to know the dogs that will accompany you for the next 5 days on your adventure in the Swedish wilderness. You will have the opportunity to build a relationship with your husky team so that you can work together optimally on the upcoming tour.
Afterwards you will get a dog sledding briefing, where you will learn everything you need to know for the following tour: how to handle the dogs, how to put on the harnesses and how to steer the sled. Afterwards, you can put what you have learned directly into practice and harness the dogs together with the guide. Now you are ready to go! Everybody gets on their sled and follows the guide, who drives in first place. The route will be adapted to the weather conditions.
When you get back, the first thing you do is take care of the dogs before you warm up, strengthen yourselves and discuss at length what you have just experienced. At the end of the day you will have dinner together, where you will talk about the two-day tour ahead of you in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 3 and 4: The first overnight tour
The following two days you will spend together with your group, the guide and the dogs in the wilderness! For this purpose you will drive with the sleds to a charming wilderness cabin about 40 km away. Depending on the weather conditions you will need about 4 hours for that, in case of bad weather a bit longer.
When you reach your overnight destination, first take care of the dogs. They have worked hard and deserve a cuddle and good food! After that it's your turn. You spend the night in a simple rustic wilderness cabin, where there is neither electricity nor running water. But there is plenty to do: cutting and splitting firewood, lighting the fire, heating the stove, drawing water from the river - enough to enjoy a well-deserved dinner!
This experience is far from conventional tourist offers and requires your active cooperation. Immerse yourself in the fascinating life in the wilderness of Swedish Lapland!
After spending the night together in the wilderness hut, you will start the next morning after breakfast on a day tour back to the husky camp.
Day 5: Snowshoe or Ski Hike
Tuesday is the day to relax, for you and the dogs! However, if you can't get enough of the beautiful, deep snowy surroundings and your urge to move is not yet satisfied, you can go on a snowshoe or ski hike. Generally, the dogs have their day off today, but if you'd like a four-legged companion, you're welcome to bring a dog that's had a break for the past week.
Day 6 and 7: The second overnight tour
The schedule for the next two days is similar to your first overnight tour: you'll harness the dogs, prepare the sleds together and head out after your guide into the Swedish taiga. But this time the overnight will be even more adventurous! You will not spend the night in a wilderness cabin, like last time, but in a (heated) tent! After a night of pure wilderness, you will drive back to the husky camp on Thursday after breakfast in one day's stage.
Upon arrival you will take care of the dogs first, as usual, and then let the tour and your stay end comfortably.
Day 8: Departure
Today you will have to say farewell to the dogs after breakfast, because then you will be taken back to the airport or bus station in Vilhelmina. After last goodbyes, your husky adventure in the far north will end here on Friday morning and you will start your journey home with many incomparable memories and experiences.
Accommodation
On the overnight tours, the first time you will all sleep together in an authentic, wood-heated wilderness cabin where there is no running water or electricity. The second time even in a heated tent. You can't experience the wilderness of Sweden any closer or more real!
The five nights on the farm you are accommodated in normal double rooms with all modern amenities.
Catering
This tour offers you full board, which means you don't need to bring anything (except some personal snacks for the road). You will get your meals at the husky farm or during the tours. On the overnight tours, your guide will provide you with breakfast and dinner at each overnight location and an outdoor lunch.
Requirements
You should have a certain level of physical fitness as you will be sledding for several days in a row. You should help the dogs on climbs or in deep snow by dismounting and pushing along. You are traveling as a team and it is not called dog sledding sport for nothing.
We ask for your understanding that the weight limit is 100 kg. There is quite a bit of luggage to carry on this tour and otherwise it is too much weight for the dogs to pull.
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate). Show all dates
