This exclusive husky tour takes you deep into the snowy wilderness of Finland. In a traditional wilderness hut, you will feel the peace and seclusion of nature in the far north and get closer to the life of a real musher. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you will learn how to lead a husky team and develop a close bond with the animals. This trip is for all those who are looking for an authentic and personal adventure in Lapland.

Short Husky Adventure in Lapland: the itinerary

Day 1: Off into the wilderness!
After your arrival at Kittilä airport or Kolari train station, you will be taken to Harriniva Adventure Resort. There you will meet your guide, pick up your winter equipment and receive an introduction to the days ahead. You will also get to know your own husky team, pack the sleds and learn how to handle them safely. Your guide will explain all the important information, from the daily routines to the care of the dogs, so that you are perfectly prepared for the trip. You will then head straight into the wilderness on your first husky safari. You will drive along snow-covered forest trails to a remote wilderness hut where you will spend the night. Enjoy dinner in the evening and round off the day together in a relaxed atmosphere.

Day 2 & 3: Out and about with the huskies
Start your days with a hearty breakfast. Together with your guide and the group, you will harness the huskies and prepare the sleds for the adventures ahead. Both days will take you deep into the wilderness, where you will explore mystical forests, frozen lakes and the picturesque edge of the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. The daily distance is 20 - 30 km, adapted to the group and the conditions. As soon as you return from your tours, feeding and caring for the dogs is the first priority. Afterwards, you will carry out the remaining tasks together as a group. You will eat lunch as a picnic on the way, dinner is served in the wilderness hut in the evening. If you'd like to, you can warm up in the sauna and reminisce about the best moments of the day. Overnight stay in the wilderness hut.

Day 4: Back from the wilderness
Enjoy your last breakfast in the wilderness hut before getting your team ready for the return journey to the resort. After yor arrival, it's time to thank you faithful huskies and return the equipment. A transfer will then take you to the airport or train station. You will certainly have a lot to tell about this trip back at home!

Four days are not enough for you? Ask us about additional nights in one of the resort's comfortable hotel rooms or cabins. For Northern Lights hunters, there is special accommodation with panoramic windows - perfect for watching the famous natural spectacle. You can round off the extra days with exciting activities such as reindeer sleigh rides or snowmobile safaris.

Accommodation:
Your base for this adventure is a remote wilderness hut (shared accommodation) located deep in nature: quiet, peaceful and far away from the lights and sounds of the city. This makes it the perfect place to observe the Northern Lights! The hut offers simple, shared sleeping quarters and has a special atmosphere that reflects the authentic life of the people from the Arctic region in earlier times. The facilities are rustic: limited access to electricity, a traditional wood-heated Finnish sauna for washing and a wilderness toilet without running water. If you are brave enough, you can cool off in the snow after your sauna session.

Requirements:
This sled dog trip is an active holiday and requires a good level of fitness as well as teamwork. Activities such as fetching water, chopping wood, looking after the dogs etc. are organised and carried out together as a team. The days start early and end in the evening when all the necessary tasks have been completed. Temperatures can range from -5°C to -45°C, and you will spend several hours outside on the runners of the sled and looking after the dogs. You should be prepared for this and only take part in this trip if you are healthy, in good physical condition and have no recent injuries.

Important information:
To participate in this tour, you should either travel to Kittilä airport on a morning flight or to Kolari on the night train. For the return journey, you need a flight/train that departs in the evening. Additional nights at the resort are possible before or after the tour - just ask us for availability. Due to the long days in the wilderness and the changeable weather conditions, we recommend this tour only for people aged 18 and over. There are no shared driving possibilities. Should you wish to discontinue your overnight safari for reasons other than an emergency, an evacuation fee of €460 per person will be charged. These covers pick up from the wilderness. An additional fee will also be charged depending on the available accommodation.

Note on group size:
The maximum number of participants on this trip is 7 people plus guide. However, additional people from other tours can stay overnight in the wilderness hut at the same time. As the tour usually uses the provider's biggest huts, it is still spacious and comfortable, with enough room for everyone.

Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.

Harriniva Double Room

The double rooms in Hotel Harriniva have two single beds that can be pushed together and are authentic and very cosy with their wooden furnishings. The standard rooms are equipped with a seating area and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and hairdryer. This accommodation is located in the main building of the Harriniva Hotel. Standard rooms with an additional bunk bed or another single bed are available for families or small groups.

The 33 sqm Arctic Sky Nest is perfect if you are looking for a combination of Finnish design, comfort, and the breathtaking beauty of nature. The nests are equipped with a private bathroom and a sofa bed for two additional persons, and offer all the amenities you need for your stay. This is the largest log cabin at the Jeris site. It has two bedrooms and an open sleeping area in the form of an open loft, and thus offers space for up to 7 people. Wilderness Reindeer Adventure

Meet the enchanting reindeer of Lapland! Your adventure begins with a warm welcome of the guide at the resort reception. You will be taken to the starting point, where a local reindeer herder will be waiting for you. A sledge pulled by a snowmobile will take you deeper into the forest to a reindeer fence where a large herd has gathered. Here you have the rare opportunity to get to know the animals close and learn more about the daily life of a modern reindeer herder. You then continue by snowmobile sleigh to a traditional herder's cabin. There you will hear stories from the past and the history connected to the cabin itself. On this excursion, you cover a distance of around 8 - 12 km and two people share a sled taking turns driving. The entire excursion takes about 3 hours. Before you start, you will receive an introduction to dog sledding and get to know the huskies, who will be waiting for you with great anticipation. Es hat uns sehr gut in Lappland gefallen und wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Leider haben wir keine Polarlichter gesehen, das nächste Mal klappt es vielleicht. Der Guide von HARRINIVA hat seine Sache sehr gur gemacht. Es war für uns eine wunderschöne Woche mit vielen unvergesslichen Momenten.

Hallo, es war ein Wundervoller Urlaub. Vom ersten Tag der Betreuung bis zum nach Hause fliegen hat alles reibungslos geklappt. Schnelle Antwortzeiten, Spezialwünsche wurden umgesetzt. Das Rahmenprogramm wurde vom Hotel verschoben, was uns am Ende besser gefallen hat. So konnten wir uns in Ruhe steigen und an die Kälte -34 gewöhnen. Kleine Gruppe mit 5 anderen, einen Guide der auf alle Wünsche eingegangen ist. Habe lange nicht so viel gelacht wie bei Ihm. Als Tipp für alle Unerfahrene. Jegliche Art von Brille hat bei uns versagt. Diese liefen nach 2x Ausatmen direkt an und froren fest. Vielleicht wäre eine Skibrille von Vorteil -nicht probiert. Eine sehr gute Gesichtsmaske mit Buff drunter ist von Vorteil, mit der Zeit friert der Atmen an und die Maske wird mehr und mehr zum "Panzer". Versagen der Elektronik ist das grösste Problem für alle diejenigen, die ihre Eindrücke festhalten möchten. Handy 10min im Stand, Gopro hero 6 18min Hundeschlichten, Spiegelreflex Kamera 21min imStand . Genügend Akkus mitbringen und nah am Körper tragen. Polarlichter konnten wir geniessen. Bitte vorab über die richtige Kameraeinstellung informieren. Taschentücher im Maxipack, es wird die Nase laufen. Würde die Anbieter weiter empfehlen und auch wieder buchen. Danke für den tollen Urlaub

Das Angebot hielt was es versprochen hat. Wunderbare Touren, alle perfekt organisiert, absolutes High light war die Ausfahrt mit den Huskys, so freundlich, so schnell, so ein spannender und traumhafter Ausflug, auch weil das Wetter fantastisch war! Das Hotel ist schon etwas abgewohnt, die Hütte in der wir wohnten aber war sehr gemütlich und herrlich gelegen.Das Personal sehr nett, das Essen reichlich und sehr schmackhaft. Der Ausblick von der Saunalandschaft ist atemberaubend. Diese Reise kann man gerne jedem empfehlen.

Wir waren zu 5...Eltern+Kind 9 Jahre und Grosseltern und durften eine fantastische Reise erleben. Die Organisation war sehr gut...angefangen von den Informationen vor der Reise bis hin zu einem erstklassigen reibungslosen Ablauf der ganzen Reise...großes Kompliment an den Veranstalter. Unsere Hütte war super gemütlich, wenn auch etwas weit weg vom Haupthaus...was aber den Vorteil hatte, dass man das viele gute Essen bei einem Spaziergang gleich wieder verdauen konnte. Die Hütte hatte eine eigene Sauna, welche wir auch gerne genutzt haben nach den schönen Schneeschuh-,Ski-, Husky- oder Schneemobiltouren und einen Kamin. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr schön an einem See gelegen und weitläufig und auch für Kinder schön gestaltet. Es gibt einen Snowtube-Tunnel und überall stehen Schlitten...unser Kind war rundum die Uhr beschäftigt und hat den vielen Schnee genossen. Auch die Ausflüge mit unserem Guide Toini haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Alles in allem war es wirklich ein rundum gelungener Urlaub, welcher leider viel zu schnell vorbei war und an dem wir gerne zurückdenken. Vielen Dank an HeyHusky...wenn wir wieder mal eine Skandinavien-Reise buchen wollen, werden Sie sicherlich unser Ansprechpartner sein.

Absolut gigantisch und empfehlenswert. Die Reise war seit langem das Beste, was mir passieren konnte. Wer das perfekte Maß an Ruhe, einer unendlichen Weite der Natur, die Liebe zu den Tieren und den Abenteuerspaß sucht, der ist hier genau richtig. Für mich war es die perfekte Mischung. Vielen Dank dem Reiseteam für die super Organisation und die unkomplizierte Buchung. Bei Rückfragen wurde auch immer sehr schnell geantwortet und auch die Beratung zu den unterschiedlichen Reisen war sehr hilfreich. Vor Ort mussten wir uns um nichts kümmern, wurden herzlichst begrüßt und rundum versorgt. Die Guides sind um jeden Reisenden äußerst bemüht und kümmern sich um jedes noch so kleine Problemchen, was auftreten könnte. Man ist auf jeden Fall in sehr guten Händen und kann den Urlaub in vollen Zügen genießen. Ich kann die Reise nur jedem empfehlen, der den Winterspaß sucht, gerne einmal mit Rentieren und Huskys unterwegs sein möchte und trotz eines ereignisreichen Tages nachts noch Polarlichter suchen gehen möchte - das ist tatsächlich ein Naturspektakel, dass man live gesehen haben muss. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und meinen kleinen Hundetrupp besuchen. Bis bald hoffentlich.

Einfach nur WOW, eine unvergesslich schöne Reise in ein traumhaftes magisches Land. Die Aktivitäten, Unterkunft alles war einfach super. Ich hatte eine unvergessliche, traumhafte Woche im Hotel Harriniva inkl. einer Nacht in einer Wildnishütte. Ganz alleine angereist traf ich auf eine tolle Gruppe. Wir hatten zusammen schöne Erlebnisse wie die 2-tägige Hundeschlittentour, die Schneemobiltour und einen Tag auf der Rentierfarm mit einer abenteuerlichen Schlittenfahrt. Auch konnten wir die Nordlichter bestaunen. Alles in Allem ein perfekt organisierter Urlaub mit authentischen Guides und dazu noch fast perfektes Wetter mit einer spektakulären Nordlichtshow. Perfekter geht es nicht. Vielen Dank für den fantastischen Urlaub! Ich empfehle heyHusky sehr gerne weiter.
