Norway Aurora Borealis Short Break: The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at Tromsø, a transfer will take you from the airport or city centre to your accommodation. There you can recover from your journey and move into a comfortable twin room. Afterwards, you can get in the mood for the exciting time ahead with a pleasant dinner. The travel services begin with dinner on the first day and end with breakfast on the last.

Day 2: Free Day & Northern Lights
You can spend the day according to your own preferences. Explore the area on a walk or sit back with a good book. There are many possibilities! If you are interested, you can book various activities at an additional cost. How about a trip on cross-country skis? After dinner, you will make your way to Camp Nikka. Free from any light pollution, you will find the perfect conditions for observing the Northern Lights. Cosy up together in a lavvu tent and enjoy snacks and hot drinks by the fire. Your guide will give you tips on how to photograph the natural spectacle best. Duration: 4 hours.
Day 3: With snowshoes through the wilderness
Today, you will learn everything you need to know about surviving in the wilderness on a snowshoe tour through snowy forests. In the footsteps of the Norwegian explorers, you will make your way through the snow and learn, for example, how to light a fire with a magnesium stone. Along with more information about flora and fauna, look out for animal footprints and try to guess what species they might belong to. With a bit of luck, you will even meet a willow grouse or an Arctic hare on your tour. Duration: 3.5 hours. Back at the hotel, you can refresh yourself with a dinner and reflect your new experiences.
Day 4: A ride with the dog sled
After a delicious breakfast, you will go to a husky farm, which pays particular attention to animal welfare. The huskies, housed two at a time in pens where they are not chained up, will eagerly await you. Before you can finally get started, you will get an introduction to leading a dog team. Then you will get on the runners of your sled (2 persons per sled) and set off on a journey through the impressive nature of Northern Norway. The driver can be changed halfway through the tour. Back at the husky farm, you will regain your strength with a hot drink. Total duration: 2.5 hours. Round off the successful day with a dinner at the resort.
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy one last breakfast before being transferred to Tromsø Airport or city centre. The adventures and new experiences you made during your short holiday in the far north will accompany you on your way back home.
The accommodation:
Accommodation is the beautiful Malangen Resort, located in the middle of the Norwegian Fjords near Tromsø and featuring gorgeous views. This is your ideal starting point for unforgettable nature excursions and a cosy retreat for relaxation. Each room comes with a breathtaking view and modern furnishings. In addition, you will find a twin bed, private bathroom and coffee/tea maker. The hotel features a sauna with a large glass front, as well as two outdoor hot tubs (both for an extra charge). Please note that wearing a swimsuit is mandatory in the spa area.
Children are not allowed to lead their own sled dog team and have to ride with the guide's or a parent's sled instead. A parent must accompany the child sitting on the sled.

Due to hotel policy, 100% cancellation fees apply over Christmas, New Year’s Eve and parts of February after confirmed booking. In addition, bookings during this period are non-amendable. For this reason, we recommend that clients take out insurance in this case. If the participant does not wish to (or cannot) take part in what is booked - no refund is granted. Additionally, further costs may arise if cancellation occurs before the final payment is made.

The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Optional activities have very limited availability; we recommend booking them well in advance, often weeks or months before departure, as they may be fully booked by the time of travel.
