Watch whales in the fjord landscape of Norway
Experience an unforgettable journey to the north of Norway - far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and nestled in the tranquillity of the Arctic. On the island of Uløya, the Arctic Panorama Lodge awaits you with its soothing spa area and views over vast, blue fjords. Listen to the stories of the Sami people, go on a whale safari and a dog sledding tour, hike through the wintry nature on snowshoes and, with a bit of luck, be enchanted by the dance of the Northern Lights on a nighttime snowshoe hike - always accompanied by the Northern Lights alarm, which never misses a glow. Your adventure is rounded off with regional dishes and the warm hospitality of northern Norway.
Northern Norway between whales, huskies and Northern Lights: the itinerary
Day 1: Arrival on Uløya
After your arrival in Tromsø, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to the Arctic Panorama Lodge. Enjoy the drive past beautiful fjord landscapes and wild nature. Once you have reached the lodge and checked in, you can relax in your room and explore your new temporary home. In the evening, dinner made from fresh, regional ingredients awaits you at the long dining table, where everyone sits down together. A great opportunity to get to know the other guests! Round off the day with a drink at the bar or snuggle up in your cosy bed to get a good night's sleep for the adventures ahead.
Day 2: In search of whales
Your day begins with a hearty breakfast at the lodge before you sett off on a whale safari. The three to four-hour boat trip through the coastal waters takes you to the natural habitat of the majestic sea giants. Be mesmerized by the beauty of the animals as their large bodies break through the waves. After returning to the lodge, you habe the afternoon at leisure. Relax in the sauna or go for a short walk in the surroundings. In the evening, dinner is served in the lodge's restaurant.

After breakfast, strap on your snowshoes and set off on a hike in dreamlike landscapes. Your guide will show you the most beautiful trails, past amazing views of fjords, mountains and valleys. You will be hiking for 2 - 3 hours before returning to the lodge. How about a dip in the hot tub? In the evening, you will meet again in the restaurant for dinner. With a bit of luck, your Northern Lights alarm will sound afterwards and inform you of the appearance of the colourful auroras in the sky.
Day 4: Dog sledding or second whale safari
Another adventure awaits you today! You have the choice between a three-hour husky tour or a second whale safari (please let us know when requesting). On the husky tour, you will learn to steer your own team of amazing dogs and learn more about these fascinating animals. You're welcome to ask the guides all about the huskies and life as a musher (= dog sled driver). Please note that in autumn and when there is not enough snow, the husky ride will be on wheels. After an eventful day, enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge.
Day 5: Nighttime snowshoe hike
Today is at your leisure. Go on your own adventures, book additional activities for an extra charge or read a good book at your room. It's also a great idea to spend some time at the spa. The use of the sauna and outdoor hot tub is already included. You can also sign up for soothing massages and skin therapies for a fee. After dinner, you will go on a snowshoe hike together and, hopefully, watch the Northern Lights. Hike under the starry sky and learn more about the auroras.
Day 6: Leisure day
Once again, you can organise the day as you wish. Feel free to ask us about possible additional activities, such as a visit to reindeer (at an extra charge). You can also enjoy the views of endless blue that you have directly from the lodge or go for a short hike by yourself. Look forward to dinner and a quiet evening.
Day 7: Stories of the island and Sami
Spend this day relaxing and unwinding. Take advantage of the free access to the spa and regenerate from the stresses and strains of everyday life. In the evening, you are invited to a storytelling session in a lavvu (traditional tent), where you will learn more about the Sami culture and the history of the island of Uløya.
Day 8: Farewell from Norway
After a delicious breakfast, it's time to say goodbye. A transfer will take you back to Tromsø so that you can continue your journey home from there. You leave the enchanting far north of Norway with many new memories and experiences in your luggage.
Accommodation:

Important information:
Please note that children are not allowed to drive the dog sled themselves and need to travel as passengers with a parent or the guide instead. It is up to the guide to decide if a child is allowed to drive the sled him/herself (usually from 13 years, depending on height).
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
Note: We recommend booking additional categories and guided activities directly with the tour package (several weeks or months before arrival), as these may be fully booked at the time of travel. Some activities are only available on certain dates and not for the entire season.
