Northern Lights adventure in Lapland: the itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Lapland
Upon arrival at Kittilä Airport (KTT) or Kolari Railway Station, you will receive a warm welcome and be transferred to your resort. Here you can settle into your cosy room and relax after your journey. Dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant in the evening – a great opportunity to sample the region's culinary delights. Depending on your arrival time, you can pick up your winter equipment that evening or the next morning to be well prepared for the adventures ahead. Enjoy the winter landscape and relax as the day draws to a close. Perhaps you will see the first northern lights in the sky today?

Meals begin with dinner on the first day and end with lunch on the last day.
The final schedule of activities will be provided at reception upon arrival.

Day 2: Reindeer experience & Aurora snowmobiling
Start the day with a hearty breakfast and look forward to the first activity on your itinerary! Together, you will visit a traditional reindeer farm, where you can explore a historic farmhouse and museum. Immerse yourself in the local culture, traditions and daily life in the old days. You will also learn more about reindeer husbandry and the reindeer's year. Try your hand at throwing the suopunki (traditional Lappish lasso) and see if you have what it takes to be a reindeer herder. Then it's finally time to meet the animals themselves and go on a short 3 km sleigh ride through the forest. The total duration is 2.5 hours + possible transfer.
In the evening, you will go on a snowmobile tour that takes you deeper into the untouched wilderness. Hopefully the Northern Lights will show up as you drive through the Arctic night and enjoy hot drinks under the starry sky. You will drive in pairs, switching seats halfway through the tour. For an additional charge, you can also drive solo. Just get in touch with us. (15–25 km; total duration: 3 hours).

Day 3: Dog sledding & Northern Lights search
Today is all about the energetic huskies, who will greet you excitedly as soon as you arrive at the husky kennel. But before you can get started, you will learn everything you need to know about steering the sled. Once everyone is ready, you will embark on an exciting journey through the winter landscape. You will share a team of dogs (driver/passenger) and travel a distance of about 10 to 12 km while experiencing the power of your husky team. Halfway through the journey, you will swap places (total duration: about 2 hours + possible transfers).
In the evening, there will be another Northern Lights excursion, during which an experienced guide will take you by car to the best vantage points to observe the impressive Aurora Borealis, with a little luck. While you wait in the darkness, enjoy hot drinks and the peaceful silence of the Lappish night (total duration: about 3 hours).

Day 4: Departure and Farewell
After a hearty breakfast, the last day of your winter adventure in Lapland will unfortunately begin. Take in the calming atmosphere of the far north one last time and take a piece of Finnish serenity home with you. Guests with later departures can also enjoy lunch before setting off. A transfer will take you to Kittilä Airport (KTT) or Kolari Train Station, from where you can begin your journey home. You are sure to carry the magical moments of your adventure in Lapland with you in your heart.

If you have opted for the longer 5-day version, another wonderful day in Lapland awaits you today. Depending on the final schedule, you will have the day at your leisure and can take part in many exciting additional activities. Or would you prefer to explore the area on your own with snowshoes or cross-country skis (rentable for a fee)? Alternatively, you will take part in one of the activities described above and have a day/evening off on another day. In your case, departure is on day 5 by transfer to Kittilä Airport or Kolari railway station.

Accommodation:
During your trip, you will stay at Harriniva Adventure Resort, Jeris Lakeside Resort or Torassieppi Eco Reindeer Resort (all belonging to the same provider). The resorts are located near the town of Muonio and are surrounded by beautiful nature. A perfect starting point for your time in Lapland! The hotel rooms are comfortably furnished and have their own bathroom with a hot shower. For an additional charge, larger rooms, a private cabin with sauna or unique Northern Lights accommodation can also be booked (see Extras). Meals are served in the restaurant of the respective main building. In addition, the hotel's sauna can be used free of charge (separate for men and women). The price refers to accommodation in a double room with a minimum occupancy of two people. A single room supplement is charged for solo travellers. Important information:
To drive a snowmobile, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driving licence (category B). Persons under this age or without a driving licence may participate as passengers. Children under the age of 15 or under 140 cm will travel in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile during the tour. In the case of the husky tour, it is at the guide's discretion whether children are allowed to drive themselves or only participate as passengers (depending on their height, among other factors).

The activities usually start with a meeting at reception. From there, you either set off on foot or are taken to your destination by transfer. This transfer is included in the price.

You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. Your cosy cabin comes with a private sauna and a roaring fireplace, which creates a very special atmosphere during the winter months. There are two bedrooms with two twin beds in each and a sleeping alcove with bunk bed, as well as a seating area. The 30 sqm Arctic Sky Nest is perfect if you are looking for a combination of Finnish design, comfort, and the breathtaking beauty of nature. With a large window, you have a great view of the night sky and, with a bit of luck, you can watch the Northern Lights directly from your double or twin bed. You will move into your own log cabin, which becomes your own personal retreat. Close to the reception, you will find the Wilderness Rooms with loft, which have been decorated in a wilderness theme - you'll feel right at home here! Wilderness Reindeer Adventure

Arcora Snowmobiling

Experience snowmobiling in harmony with the wilderness - starting directly from your resort, with no transfers, waiting or hustle and bustle. Your guide will be waiting for you, and you can get kitted out in comfort, even in your own accommodation if you wish. In your small group, you will receive a detailed safety and driving briefing before the engines start and you set off into the Arctic landscape. The route takes you through varied terrain across open hills and frozen lakes, with stops for stories, photos or simply a moment of silence admist the impressive natural surroundings. The safari lasts about three hours and ends with a warm lunch before heading back to the resort - perhaps there will be time afterwards for a hot drink in the lobby bar? Suitable for beginners and experienced drivers, tailored to your needs. To be allowed to drive a snowmobile yourseld, you have to be 18+ years old and hold a valid driving licence. Children up to the age of 11 receive a 40% discount. Husky Tour "Tour de Olosvuoma"

Experience the thrill of the Arctic nature on this exclusive fell snowmobile tour. Feel the wind in your face and embark on the high-speed ride across frozen lakes and untouched wilderness. You will either share a snowmobile in pairs or participate as sinlge driver for a fee. On the way, you'll stop for lunch indoors, where you can warm up before setting off again. The activity takes about 5 hours in total (incl. safety introduction); driving distance: 40 - 60 km. Aurora Campfire Experience

An unforgettable evening by the campfire in a snowy landscape awaits you - ideal for stargazing and observing the Northern Lights. Your experience begins at the resort reception, where you will be welcomed by your guide. You then set off on a sled pulled by a snowmobile deeper into the tranquil wilderness, far away from lights and buildings. Once you arrive at a secluded campfire site, you gather around the fire and enjoy the warmth and peaceful atmosphere of the wintry night in Lapland. On clear nights, millions of stars twinkle above you and, with a bit of luck, you can watch the dancing Northern Lights. A warm drink by the fire is the perfect way to round off your evening. Total duration: 2 h.

Es hat uns sehr gut in Lappland gefallen und wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Leider haben wir keine Polarlichter gesehen, das nächste Mal klappt es vielleicht. Der Guide von HARRINIVA hat seine Sache sehr gur gemacht. Es war für uns eine wunderschöne Woche mit vielen unvergesslichen Momenten.

Hallo, es war ein Wundervoller Urlaub. Vom ersten Tag der Betreuung bis zum nach Hause fliegen hat alles reibungslos geklappt. Schnelle Antwortzeiten, Spezialwünsche wurden umgesetzt. Das Rahmenprogramm wurde vom Hotel verschoben, was uns am Ende besser gefallen hat. So konnten wir uns in Ruhe steigen und an die Kälte -34 gewöhnen. Kleine Gruppe mit 5 anderen, einen Guide der auf alle Wünsche eingegangen ist. Habe lange nicht so viel gelacht wie bei Ihm. Als Tipp für alle Unerfahrene. Jegliche Art von Brille hat bei uns versagt. Diese liefen nach 2x Ausatmen direkt an und froren fest. Vielleicht wäre eine Skibrille von Vorteil -nicht probiert. Eine sehr gute Gesichtsmaske mit Buff drunter ist von Vorteil, mit der Zeit friert der Atmen an und die Maske wird mehr und mehr zum "Panzer". Versagen der Elektronik ist das grösste Problem für alle diejenigen, die ihre Eindrücke festhalten möchten. Handy 10min im Stand, Gopro hero 6 18min Hundeschlichten, Spiegelreflex Kamera 21min imStand . Genügend Akkus mitbringen und nah am Körper tragen. Polarlichter konnten wir geniessen. Bitte vorab über die richtige Kameraeinstellung informieren. Taschentücher im Maxipack, es wird die Nase laufen. Würde die Anbieter weiter empfehlen und auch wieder buchen. Danke für den tollen Urlaub

Das Angebot hielt was es versprochen hat. Wunderbare Touren, alle perfekt organisiert, absolutes High light war die Ausfahrt mit den Huskys, so freundlich, so schnell, so ein spannender und traumhafter Ausflug, auch weil das Wetter fantastisch war! Das Hotel ist schon etwas abgewohnt, die Hütte in der wir wohnten aber war sehr gemütlich und herrlich gelegen.Das Personal sehr nett, das Essen reichlich und sehr schmackhaft. Der Ausblick von der Saunalandschaft ist atemberaubend. Diese Reise kann man gerne jedem empfehlen.

Wir waren zu 5...Eltern+Kind 9 Jahre und Grosseltern und durften eine fantastische Reise erleben. Die Organisation war sehr gut...angefangen von den Informationen vor der Reise bis hin zu einem erstklassigen reibungslosen Ablauf der ganzen Reise...großes Kompliment an den Veranstalter. Unsere Hütte war super gemütlich, wenn auch etwas weit weg vom Haupthaus...was aber den Vorteil hatte, dass man das viele gute Essen bei einem Spaziergang gleich wieder verdauen konnte. Die Hütte hatte eine eigene Sauna, welche wir auch gerne genutzt haben nach den schönen Schneeschuh-,Ski-, Husky- oder Schneemobiltouren und einen Kamin. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr schön an einem See gelegen und weitläufig und auch für Kinder schön gestaltet. Es gibt einen Snowtube-Tunnel und überall stehen Schlitten...unser Kind war rundum die Uhr beschäftigt und hat den vielen Schnee genossen. Auch die Ausflüge mit unserem Guide Toini haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Alles in allem war es wirklich ein rundum gelungener Urlaub, welcher leider viel zu schnell vorbei war und an dem wir gerne zurückdenken. Vielen Dank an HeyHusky...wenn wir wieder mal eine Skandinavien-Reise buchen wollen, werden Sie sicherlich unser Ansprechpartner sein.

Absolut gigantisch und empfehlenswert. Die Reise war seit langem das Beste, was mir passieren konnte. Wer das perfekte Maß an Ruhe, einer unendlichen Weite der Natur, die Liebe zu den Tieren und den Abenteuerspaß sucht, der ist hier genau richtig. Für mich war es die perfekte Mischung. Vielen Dank dem Reiseteam für die super Organisation und die unkomplizierte Buchung. Bei Rückfragen wurde auch immer sehr schnell geantwortet und auch die Beratung zu den unterschiedlichen Reisen war sehr hilfreich. Vor Ort mussten wir uns um nichts kümmern, wurden herzlichst begrüßt und rundum versorgt. Die Guides sind um jeden Reisenden äußerst bemüht und kümmern sich um jedes noch so kleine Problemchen, was auftreten könnte. Man ist auf jeden Fall in sehr guten Händen und kann den Urlaub in vollen Zügen genießen. Ich kann die Reise nur jedem empfehlen, der den Winterspaß sucht, gerne einmal mit Rentieren und Huskys unterwegs sein möchte und trotz eines ereignisreichen Tages nachts noch Polarlichter suchen gehen möchte - das ist tatsächlich ein Naturspektakel, dass man live gesehen haben muss. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und meinen kleinen Hundetrupp besuchen. Bis bald hoffentlich.

Einfach nur WOW, eine unvergesslich schöne Reise in ein traumhaftes magisches Land. Die Aktivitäten, Unterkunft alles war einfach super. Ich hatte eine unvergessliche, traumhafte Woche im Hotel Harriniva inkl. einer Nacht in einer Wildnishütte. Ganz alleine angereist traf ich auf eine tolle Gruppe. Wir hatten zusammen schöne Erlebnisse wie die 2-tägige Hundeschlittentour, die Schneemobiltour und einen Tag auf der Rentierfarm mit einer abenteuerlichen Schlittenfahrt. Auch konnten wir die Nordlichter bestaunen. Alles in Allem ein perfekt organisierter Urlaub mit authentischen Guides und dazu noch fast perfektes Wetter mit einer spektakulären Nordlichtshow. Perfekter geht es nicht. Vielen Dank für den fantastischen Urlaub! Ich empfehle heyHusky sehr gerne weiter.
