You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Hotel Cabin Brändön Lodge

Brändön Lodge has 15 cosy cabins that are perfect for a relaxing stay in the middle of nature. Each of them has two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, a kitchen, an inviting living room and a porch with a view of the sea and the picturesque Luleå archipelago. There are two single beds in each bedroom that can be pushed together to form a double bed in one room on request. You can add an extra bed in the living room for an additional fee, which increases the total occupancy to up to five people. You will also find a sofa and folding kitchen table with chairs in the living room. The kitchen contains a small fridge, kettle, coffee maker and microwave. There are no cooking utensils, but cutlery, glasses and crockery are provided.

Aurora Hideaway Dinner

You will be transported on a snowmobile sledge to a secret hideaway on the frozen sea in the middle of nowhere. On arrival, a drink awaits you before you can look forward to an excellent 3-course meal. Warm up by the fire and take in the special atmosphere created by candlelight. In between courses, you can go outside and look for the famous Northern Lights. The main course is cooked over an outdoor fire. To round off the meal, dessert and tea or coffee are offered. Duration: 2.5 h.

Santa Visit

Imagine walking through a sparkling, snow-covered forest. The only sounds are the crunch of the snow beneath your snowshoes and your own breathing. Far away from the noise and lights of the city, you are guided through a beautiful, tranquil forest that exudes a very special, mysterious atmosphere. Suddenly, a warm glow appears amidst the tranquillity: Santa is waiting for you in his hut and welcomes you with a smile. The children not only get to meet him in person, but also receive a present from him. If you wish, you can leave a present with the team on site in advance, which Santa will then hand over to the children – for a particularly personal touch. After the visit, you will be served a hot drink before heading back through the winter landscape. The activity lasts a total of 1 hour and is private, exclusively for your family or group. Gammelstad Church Village Tour

A guided tour lasting around three hours through the church town of Gammelstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a fascinating insight into the history of northern Sweden. The town’s origins date back to the 14th century, and Gammelstad remains of great cultural and historical significance to this day – both for Luleå and for Sweden as a whole. After a short transfer, you will meet your guide, who will lead you on a walking tour through the village. Along the way, you will learn how the history of the village is linked to the local geography, the development of the region and the history of northern Sweden. During the visit, you will also have the opportunity to discover charming arts and crafts shops and visit an informative exhibition about the village’s history. A traditional coffee break is also included, providing a delightful conclusion to this historically themed excursion.

Icebreaker Adventure in Piteå

On this tour, you will visit the icebreaker ships in Piteå and experience how they make the shipping lanes along the Baltic coast navigable. An approx. one-hour transfer from Brändön or Pine Bay Lodge will take you to Piteå, where you can already see the icebreaker in the harbour. Following that, you will board the ship and witness first-hand how it effortlessly breaks the sea ice. As soon as the icebreaker takes a break on its journey, you can put on a marine survival suit and swim in the sea behind the ship. To warm up afterward, you can drink some tea or coffee.

Arctic Astronomy

Take a look at the Arctic night sky with retired officer and amateur astronomer Ulf Jonsson (now a consultant in aviation, space and photography). In his own small observatory he will tell you interesting facts about the various objects in the sky, which you can also observe yourself through telescopes and binoculars. In some cases, it is even possible to take your own photo with a system camera or cell phone. In addition, you will hear stories about the constellations and their perception in different cultures. If the moon is shining, it will also be scrutinized with its impressive craters and mountain rages. With a little luck, even the Northern Lights will show up! In this case, you can look forward to tips for good photos. This insight into the wide field of astronomy takes about 3 hours.

Northern Lights Snowshoe Walk

Set out on snowshoes through the forest to learn more about the nature of Swedish Lapland and the Northern Lights. Nature Snowmobile Tour

After a safety briefing, you will head out into the wilderness of the North (2 persons per snowmobile). During breaks, you have the opportunity to change drivers and admire the incredible views. Meanwhile, your guide will tell you more about the area, the unique nature and the culture of the local people over tea and coffee. You have the choice between a 2-hour or (for an extra charge) 4-hour tour. The 4-hour drive includes an outdoor lunch during the tour. Single use of a snowmobile is possible for an additional fee. Please note that driving a snowmobile is only allowed from the age of 18 and with a valid driving license! Teenagers can sit behind the driver. Children will be sitting in a sledge behind the guide's snowmobile.

Full day husky tour

After an introduction with safety instructions, the excited dogs will be prepared for the upcoming tour. Then you'll set off into the wilderness of Swedish Lapland for a 4-hour dog sled tour (30-50 km). During the tour, you will share a sled in pairs (own sled possible for a fee). Navigate your husky team through snow-capped forests and over frozen lakes, and enjoy the pleasant tranquillity that will envelope you. Halfway through the tour, you will take a break for lunch by the open fire to refuel for the last stretch. Back at the kennel, the dogs will be cared for and thanked for their work. The excursion takes about 6 hours.

A transfer will take you to the husky kennel, where the dogs will happily greet you. Ice fishing on the frozen sea

A big snowmobile sled will take you onto the frozen sea to attempt ice fishing. Once there, holes are drilled into the ice to allow work to begin. Perch and, sometimes, pike are examples of species that appear frequently. Your guide will inform you about the nature of the frozen sea, how to read ice conditions, and give recommendations on how to navigate safely in this environment. During a break, you can refuel with hot beverages and sweet bread. You can eat the fish you caught for lunch at the lodge later. The expedition lasts approximately 2 hours.
