Husky Adventure: Explore the Alaskan wilderness!
Enjoy Alaska's quiet and lonely nature with its impressive natural phenomena on the runners of your own dog sled. It goes from hut to hut through dense forests and wide river valleys, over mountains, and past imposing rock formations. If you're lucky, the Northern Lights will paint unique patterns in the starry sky above you at night. One thing is certain: this tour brings you closer to the Alaskan wilderness than ever before.
Husky adventure in the Alaskan wilderness: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
In the morning, you will be picked up at either the airport or a hotel in Fairbanks, and after a 40-minute drive, you will reach the husky farm. There you will meet your guides and your most important companions for the next few days: the huskies. After a short introduction to the techniques of the mushers followed by a test drive, you can already make the first preparations for the next day, which will be briefly interrupted for a delicious lunch. Afterward, you can look forward to your dinner and your comfortable bed in the shared accommodation (no running water!). The on-site travel services start with the introductory course on the first day and end with the arrival at the husky farm on the last day.

After breakfast, you will be taken on a 30-minute drive to the start of your tour in the White Mountains Recreation Area. This is where final preparations are made and the huskies are harnessed until your wilderness adventure finally starts. Together with your husky team, you make your way through forests, which are replaced by open areas with extensive meadows later on. You can refresh yourself with a lunch and then cover the rest of the way to the hut. Once there, you take care of the dogs first before preparing your own dinner. Afterward, you can sit back and enjoy the silence in the middle of nature.
Day 3: Through the wilderness of Alaska
Today, after breakfast, you go back on the dog sled for the next stage of the tour. On your way, you drive along the breathtaking scenery of the White Mountains with its rivers and mountains until you finally arrive at the next wilderness hut in the evening. As on the previous day, you first care for the dogs before it's time for your own dinner. If the view is clear, it is worth taking a look at the night sky. Perhaps the famous Northern Lights await you there.
Day 4: On Husky-Tour
The next day will follow a similar pattern. Take time to enjoy the incredible nature of Alaska and discover the White Mountains with your husky team. On your way, you will have fantastic views of untouched nature and imposing mountains. Lunch will take place as usual during the tour. In the evenings, you will find yourself in a wilderness hut for a warm meal. Remember to keep an eye out for the Northern Lights. The seclusion of the wilderness huts provides the perfect conditions for seeing them.
Day 5: Return to the farm
On the last part of your tour, you will go through deep forests and white snow until you reach the starting point of your journey. There, you will load the dogs and sleds and go back to the husky farm. After your luggage and equipment have been stowed, you will be taken to Fairbanks, where your trip slowly comes to an end. This is the perfect time to sit back and revel in the beautiful memories you've made during the last few days.
Accommodation:
You will spend the nights together with your fellow travelers in shared wilderness huts without running water and electricity. They are very rustic and have an open-space concept with a wood stove, a small kitchen, and bunk beds. As a special feature, each hut has a large window with the best view of the respective location.
If you are interested, you can also book a hotel in Fairbanks for arrival or departure at a surcharge. Please do not hesitate to contact us!
Arrival:
The best way to reach Fairbanks is by plane. Your guide will pick you up in the morning of the following day and take you to the husky farm (transfer time: approx. 40 minutes).
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate).
