Husky dream in wintry Sweden: The itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Taikuri Farm
After your arrival in Östersund Airport or train station, you will be warmly welcomed and taken to the idyllic Taikuri Farm on a shared transfer. On the way, you can leave everyday life behind you and look forward to a week full of unique experiences. Once you arrive at the farm, you will be accommodated in a cozy holiday home. In the evening, dinner will be served and you can round off the day with a first get-together.
Day 2: A tour with the dog sled
Today your adventure begins with an exciting husky tour! You will set off in a small group to explore the wintry landscape with a large husky team. While an experienced musher steers the sled, you can sit back and enjoy the passing nature. The powerful dogs will take you over frozen lakes and through snow-covered mountain landscapes. Later that day, a hearty dinner awaits you, followed by an unforgettable night ride with the huskies. Feel the silence of the far north and watch the hard-working dogs run by the light of your headlamps.

Day 3: Winter hiking with huskies
Start the day with a hearty breakfast before a guided snowshoe hike is on the programme today. The special thing about it: You will be accompanied by a husky! Together you will discover the white landscapes and then take a break by a campfire. Just like the Swedes, you will fortify yourself with a traditional fika (coffee break) and then hike back to the farm. The day ends with a delicious dinner.
Day 4: Overnight stay in a mountain cabin
Look forward to a once-in-a-lifetime experience: you will spend the night in a simple mountain cabin - surrounded by huskies! Make yourself comfortable by the warm wood-burning stove and spend plenty of time with the dogs. During stroking sessions, you get to know your four-legged friends better and also have the opportunity for interesting conversations with your fellow travellers. After a restful night in the quiet seclusion of the cabin, you will return to Taikuri Farm the next morning.
Day 5: Snowmobile safari through nature
On your return to the farm, an exciting snowmobile adventure awaits you. You drive up into the fell landscape and enjoy the fresh air and expansive views of the surrounding winter landscape. An unforgettable feeling of freedom! The adrenalin will rush through your veins while you get to know a whole new, fast-paced side of Sweden. You have really earned your dinner this evening.
Day 6: A day off
You can organise the day as you wish. Read by the fireplace, go for a walk or just feel the relaxing moment. If you'd like, you can also take part in the daily chores around the huskies and learn more about life with these wonderful animals. Use this day to recharge your batteries and prepare for the rest of the week's adventures.
Day 7: Second husky tour
A second husky tour is on the schedule today. Once again, the guide will drive you through Swedish nature with the large dog team. After all the shared moments of the past week, you have already built up a deep bond with the huskies. In the evening, you will be served a special farewell dinner before you can go outside to watch the Northern Lights if you are lucky. The clear cold air and darkness of the night offer the best conditions for seeing this natural spectacle. Have your camera ready!
Day 8: Farewell and departure
After breakfast, you will unfortunately have to say goodbye today. You will be taken to the airport or train station in Östersund and can start your journey home from there. In your luggage are many memories that you have made over the past week. You will certainly remember this trip and the friendly huskies for a long time to come.
Accommodation:
Taikuri Farm is located in the mountain village of Bakvattnet in the Jämtland region, between Stor Bakvattnet lake and the mountains of Ansättfjäll. The perfect place for Nordic adventures and relaxation! You will stay in the farm's holiday home, which is approx. 90 m² in size and has a dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, wood-burning stove, fully equipped kitchen, sofa bed, two bathrooms (one with shower, one with washing machine), three bedrooms (one with two single beds, two with pull-out single beds) and Wi-Fi. The rooms are friendly and traditionally furnished and have enough space for a good night's sleep. The common rooms invite you to lean back or socialise with other guests. Enjoy the warm hospitality and the beauty of the surrounding nature. One night is spent at a simple mountain cabin with a wood-burning stove and candlelight.
Requirements:
Please note that this trip is suitable for people aged 14+ and requires physical fitness and health. You should weigh a maximum of 90 kg so that the weight, together with the winter clothing and other equipment, does not become too heavy for the dogs.
Please bring your own winter clothing for this trip. Overalls in common sizes can be rented on site for a cleaning fee of 25 €, gloves for a fee of 5 € and winter boots for a fee of 20 €. Please let us know at the time of booking if you would like to rent anything.
We recommend that you take out international health insurance or accident insurance and travel cancellation insurance.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
