Endless expanse in the Swedish Fjäll
A wilderness adventure of a very special kind. Experience a tour where only you, your dogs, the guide and one or two other guests travel through the Swedish wilderness. After the first few days of settling in at the husky farm, you will be out in the endless white snowy landscape for several days. You will drive your own sled with everything you need to survive, and spend your nights in wilderness cabins or even in (heated) tents. An active hands on vacation to dive into!

Day 1: Arrival
On Friday you will arrive in Vilhelmina during the afternoon and will be picked up at the airport or bus station. You can settle into your comfortable double room stress-free before you all get to know each other over dinner. You get the first information about the possibilities to arrange the coming week and you get to pick your guides brains about everything you want to know!
Day 2: Tour preparation and snowshoe hike
After breakfast you visit the huskies for the first time, cuddling included! You get to know the dogs that will accompany you for the next 5 days on your adventure in the Swedish wilderness. Now you have the opportunity to build a relationship with your husky team so that you can work together optimally on the upcoming tour.
Afterwards you explore the closer surroundings of the camp with snowshoes or skis. Thereby you get a first impression of the beautiful landscape that awaits you the next days. Depending on your wishes and the weather conditions, the length of the hike can be adjusted.
Generally the dogs have a day off today, but if you would like to have a four-legged companion, you are welcome to take a dog with you that has had a break the last week.
Back at the farm, you strengthen yourself with a delicious dinner and then prepare for the tour together with your guide. You talk about the possible course of the tour, pack and load the sleds before snuggling up in your bed.
Day 3 to 7: Several day tour through the Swedish Taiga
First, you enjoy a hearty breakfast before you get a briefing on dog sledding. You will learn everything you need to know for the following tour: how to handle the dogs, how to put on the harnesses and how to steer the sled. Afterwards you can put what you have learned into practice and harness the dogs together with the guide. Now you are ready to go! Everyone gets on their sled and follows the guide, who drives in first place.
From now on it's just you, your husky team and your group in the endless expanse of the Swedish taiga.
The daily distance you cover on the sleds is about 40 to 50 km. This will take you about 4 to 5 hours, or longer in bad weather conditions. When you reach your overnight place, you first take care of the dogs. They have worked hard and deserve a cuddle and good food! After that it's your turn. You will spend the nights in simple but charming wilderness huts where there is neither electricity nor running water, once even in a heated tent. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Swedish Lapland, which is far from conventional tourist offerings and requires your active participation.
When you return from your exciting journey through the wilderness on Thursday afternoon, you first take care of the dogs as usual and can then enjoy a well-deserved hot shower.
In the evening, over a delicious common meal, you will review what you have experienced and end the tour together.
Day 8: Departure
Sadly, you have to say goodbye to the dogs today after breakfast, then you will be taken back to the airport or bus station in Vilhelmina. After last goodbyes, your husky adventure in the far north ends here and you will start your journey home with many incomparable memories and experiences.
Accommodation
During the tour you will all sleep together in authentic, wood-heated wilderness cabins where there is no running water or electricity. Once even in a (heated) tent! You can't experience the wilderness of Sweden any closer or more real.
The 3 nights on the farm you will be accommodated in standard double rooms with all modern amenities.
Catering
This tour offers you full board, which means you don't have to bring anything (except some personal snacks for the road). You will get your meals at the husky farm or during the tours. On the husky tour, your guide will provide you with breakfast and dinner at each overnight location and an outdoor lunch.
Requirements
You should have a certain level of physical fitness, as you will be sledding for several days in a row. You should help the dogs on climbs or in deep snow by dismounting and pushing along. You are traveling as a team and it is not called sport for fun.
We ask for your understanding that the weight limit is 100 kg. There is a lot of luggage to carry on this tour and otherwise it is too much weight for the dogs to pull.

The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
