Dog Sled Adventure with creative workshop in fascinating Swedish Lapland
This 8 day / 7 night journey combines a fascinating dog sledding adventure in breathtaking scenery with a creative workshop. Also, explore a snow-covered region on snowshoes.
During this trip, you will have unforgettable adventures amidst a beautiful landscape. Experience Husky and snowshoe tours near the border of Norway, arts and crafts courses, and of course enough time to relax! In this small dog sled camp in Swedish Lapland, you will experience many unique moments. Conquer the snowy wilderness on the skids of a dog sled and discover winter from its most beautiful side. Adventure by day and by night, relax in a traditional sauna or around a campfire and gaze up at the incredible Aurealis Borealis. The small camp, which is owned by a lovely German couple, is located only six kilometres from a nature reserve and the Fjäll mountain range. Responsible use of natural resources and the well-being of dogs is a matter of the heart for the camp's operators.
Dog Sledding Adventure in Swedish Lapland: Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
After landing in Östersund, your hosts will collect you and take you to the husky farm. There, you can check in to the cosy guesthouse and get settled. On the first day, the hosts will show you the farm and you will get to know the charming huskies that will eagerly be awaiting your arrival. A delicious meal will be served around an open fire. If you want, you can end the evening in the wood-heated sauna.
Day 2: Introduction to dog sledding and creative afternoon
After breakfast, you will receive detailed instructions on dog sledding. Then you will be able to set off and start your first shorter tour. Lunch will be served by the fireplace. In the afternoon and evening, you will have the opportunity to learn how to make knives, carve spoons or how to make jewelry from natural materials. Of course, the guides will give you tips and help you to realise your creativity. Dinner is once again served by the cosy fire.
Day 3: Husky tour through the winter landscape
Ready for another exciting day? After breakfast, you will embark on a four-hour husky tour. During rest stops, you can help yourself to tea, coffee, and snacks. Back at the camp, a warm soup will be waiting for you. Then you can relax and look forward to the upcoming activities. After dinner, you will return to the workshop to work on your creative pieces.
Day 4: Excursion to Östersund (Optional)
Today we will go to Östersund after breakfast. Here you can learn all about the region in the Heimatmuseum JÄMTLI and afterward, you can go shopping. For lunch, you will head to a local restaurant serving Lappish dishes. In the evening, enjoy more creativity in the workshop and then relax in the sauna. (Optional, alternatively another day tour with the huskies). Day 5: Husky tour through the darkness
After a rich breakfast buffet, you will have time for some individual activities or relaxation until the afternoon. In the late afternoon, you will head out with your husky team on an exciting tour through the darkness. Only illuminated by the soft glow of the headlamps, you will glide silently through the mystical snowy landscape and see it from a totally new perspective!
Day 6: Snowshoe hike with campfire
Today, after breakfast you will head out on snowshoes through the beautiful landscape. At noon you will stop and make a campfire, over which a delicious meal will be prepared! Enjoy the wonderful silence of the wilderness as you enjoy your lunch. In the evening, gather again around the fireplace, where dinner will be waiting for you. If you still have the energy, you can then join a night walk in the mountains and look for the Northern Lights dancing in the sky above you.
Day 7: Husky tour through the mountains and farewell fire
Today, after breakfast, you will go on a long sled tour through the impressive mountain landscape. Rugged trails and breathtaking views will be waiting for you. At lunchtime, you can eat around the campfire and enjoy the beauty of nature once more. The evening ends with a meal by the fire. Day 8: Departure
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and today it is time to say goodbye. After a delicious breakfast, you will be transferred back to Östersund Airport. As you leave, take with you the wonderful experiences you have had and the memories you have made!

Accommodation Campsite Fuchur is a heated guest house with 4 beds and a shared lounge. It also has a dining area and a small kitchenette. Electric light is available, and water is provided in a canister. The guest house is heated with radiators and has an oven that can be fired up for additional heating if necessary or just for the cosy atmosphere if you so wish!
The bathroom is located in the next building (30 metres away) and you can use the traditional washing faciltities in the sauna. The guest house serves a breakfast buffet every morning, and the rest of the meals are always taken in the Feuerkate at the open hearth.

You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc).
