Classic New Year in Lapland: the itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Swedish Lapland!
After your arrival at Kiruna airport or railway station, you will be warmly welcomed and taken to your accommodation. Here you will check in and be enchanted by the cosy atmosphere of your accommodation. You will meet the team and be given your warm clothing. Afterwards, you will be served a delicious 3-course dinner prepared from local ingredients. Enjoy the meal in the warm dining room and round off the first evening by the crackling fire while waiting for the Northern Lights.
Day 2: Husky tour and Northern Lights hunt
The day begins full of anticipation, as a husky tour is on the programme today. Meet the friendly dogs and learn what it means to live and work as a musher in the Arctic. You drive your own dog team and explore unspoilt nature (2 persons / sled). Feel the pleasant tranquillity of the north, interrupted only by the sound of the dogs' paws and the sled runners in the snow. In the evening, gather around the fire in the tipi next to the lodge for a hearty BBQ. Then it's off in the minivan in search of the mystical Northern Lights. Together you will head for the best vantage points to experience this natural spectacle.

Learn more about their way of life and glide through the wintry surroundings in a one-hour reindeer sleigh ride. Afterwards, get together for a lunch by the fire. In the evening, after a delicious 2-course dinner in the tipi, you will travel by snowmobile to the summit of Mt Ednamvárri. From there, a breathtaking view of the Arctic tundra and the Abisko Alps unfolds before your eyes. Isn't this the perfect backdrop for observing the Northern Lights? Your guide will take photos for you during the evening so that you can take these special moments home with you.
Day 4: Visit to the ice hotel and Northern Lights
Today, after breakfast, you will be taken by minivan to the original ice hotel. Here you will enjoy a Swedish buffet and have a look at the impressive suites, which have been designed by artists from all over the world. Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
