Get ready for a week away from the noise, hustle and bustle and light pollution and discover all the beautiful winter activities Finland has to offer!
Day 1: Arrival
You will be picked up at the airport or train station in Kajaani in the afternoon after your arrival and drive just under an hour to your accommodation, where the adventure begins. Settle into your comfortable room or cozy little apartment and relax for the rest of the day before setting off on your first adventure tomorrow.
Day 2: Your first husky tour
Immerse yourself in the world of Finnish winter wonders while snuggled up in warm thermal clothing and being instructed in dog sledding by a guide. The thrill reaches its peak as the enthusiastic huskies pull you through the snow-covered landscape through tranquil forests and over frozen lakes. Experience the thrill of leading your own team of dogs on this approx. 6 km loop. The two of you share a sled and take turns driving. Round off the experience with hot juice, grilled sausages and insights into the extraordinary life with Alaskan huskies.
Don't forget to take a few steps away from light sources into the darkness in the evening, maybe you'll be lucky and the fascinating Northern Lights will surprise you!

Day 3: Snowmobile safari into the wilderness
This is the day for those who love beautiful views and speed. A transfer will take you to the safari center for the introduction and preparation for today's adventure. Enjoy the beautiful winter landscape on a snowmobile safari of around 20 km. Your local guide will lead you safely through the Finnish wilderness on the snowmobile ride. On the way back, take a break and enjoy hot drinks and snacks. This excursion lasts between 2.5 and 3 hours and is also suitable for people with no previous experience. You ride in pairs on the snowmobile and take turns driving.
Day 4: Your personal adventure
This day is for relaxing or for further adventures to suit your own taste. For example, you can hit the slopes and go cross-country skiing, rent snowshoes, go ice fishing, spend the day at the spa or simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet around you.
Day 5: Second, longer husky adventure
Get ready for another extraordinary journey! Put on your cozy thermal clothing again and let the excitement of the huskies infect you as you get ready to steer your own husky team over a 20 km route through snow fields, forests and over frozen lakes. You ride in pairs on a sled and adults can take turns driving.
After the ride, you can warm up with hot Finnish berry juice and grilled sausages. But that's not all: the team on site will be happy to tell you exciting stories and facts about the remarkable Alaskan huskies and also offer you photo opportunities that will make for unforgettable memories.
Day 6: Snowshoe hike through the Finnish winter landscape
A snowshoe tour is the perfect way to explore the surroundings in a traditional and authentic way. To begin with, you will learn how to use snowshoes. Then your local guide will lead you into the snowy forest, where you can enjoy the beautiful snow-covered fairytale world. You will hear interesting stories about the history and nature of the region. Along the way, you can enjoy a few hot drinks during a break. The route is about 2 km long and the entire excursion takes about 2 hours including transfers.
Day 7: Free day
Your last day in the winter wonderland begins today. Perhaps you simply enjoy nature and go on a snowshoe or cross-country skiing tour on your own or book another husky or snowmobile safari - the choice is yours! There's bound to be something for you, just take a look at the various options under the “Extras” tab.
Day 8: Departure
The last day begins with breakfast before you unfortunately have to pack your things and say goodbye. A transfer will take you back to the airport or train station in Kajaani, from where you will start your journey home with many new, incomparable memories in your luggage.
Accommodation:
The hotel has three restaurants and a cozy little café in the lobby. There are two saunas, one in the hotel itself (included) and one down by the lake with a fantastic view over the slopes that run through the winter landscape and the possibility to go ice bathing (extra charge).
The double rooms are approx. 25 m² in size, have their own bathroom, a TV and plenty of storage space. If required, up to two children can be accommodated on a sofa bed. Bathrobes and towels are not included, but can be booked in advance or you can bring your own.
The apartments all have a small, fully equipped kitchen, private saunas and showers, bathrooms, fireplaces, drying cupboards, TV and free Wi-Fi. In addition, many activities are included, such as the use of kick sledges, sledges for the tobogganing hill and a campfire site with firewood. When you stay in an apartment the breakfast is not included. Half board can be booked in advance.
Note:
To drive a snowmobile yourself, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license. Children ride with an adult.
The husky guide decides whether a child is big enough to drive a dog sled themselves. Otherwise, children ride in an adult's sled.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate). Show all dates
