Day 2: Meet the huskies
Get started on your first activity while snuggled up in warm thermal clothing and being instructed in dog sledding by a guide. Feel the crisp air on your face as the enthusiastic huskies pull you through the snow-covered landscape on tranquil forest trails and over frozen lakes. Experience the exhilaration of leading your own team of dogs on this approx. 6 km long husky tour. You share a sled in pairs and adults can take turns driving. Round off the experience with hot berry juice, grilled sausages and insights into the extraordinary life with Alaskan huskies.
Don't forget to take a few steps away from light sources into the darkness if conditions are right in the evening, maybe you will be lucky and the Northern Lights will surprise you!
Day 3: Snowmobile safari into the wilderness
This is the day for those who love beautiful views. At the safari center, you will receive a snowmobile safety briefing and then follow your guide on a scenic ride. You will drive in pairs on the snowmobile, taking turns. The route takes you up the nearby hills, through snow-covered forests, and across frozen lakes. Halfway through the tour, you will stop at Haapala BnB to enjoy lunch together. The route is approximately 50 km long.
Day 4: Your personal adventure
This day is for relaxing or for further adventures to suit your own taste. For example, you can hit the slopes or go cross-country skiing, rent snowshoes, spend the day at the spa or simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet around you.
Day 5: Ice fishing on the frozen lake
Today, you will try your hand at ice fishing - a traditional Finnish activity. In a sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile, you will be taken through the forest to the frozen lake and the best fishing spots. Once you arrive, a hole will first be drilled through the ice before you can lower your line into the water. Hot drinks will be provided to help you stay warm. During this excursion, you will change fishing spots several times.
Day 6: Snowshoe hike through the Finnish night
Spend the day according to your own wishes before getting ready for the next activity in the evening. You will start by learning how to use snowshoes so you’re ready for the upcoming night hike. Your guide will lead you safely into the forest, where you will gain fascinating insights into the local nature and experience a pleasant sense of tranquility, far from noise. If the sky is clear and conditions are right, you might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights dancing across the sky. Along the way, you will stop for a break by an open fire with hot drinks and snacks. In total, you will hike about 2 km, with the total duration of the activity, including transfer, being approximately 2.5 hours.
Day 7: Free day
Your last day in the winter wonderland begins today. Perhaps you simply enjoy nature and go on a snowshoe or cross-country skiing tour on your own or book another husky or snowmobile safari - the choice is yours! There's bound to be something for you, just take a look at the various options under the “Extras” tab. If you’re feeling particularly brave, you can round off your day off with a dip in the icy water. Please do get in touch if you’re interested.
Day 8: Departure
Unfortunately you have to pack your things and say goodbye today. A transfer will take you back to the airport or train station in Kajaani, from where you will start your journey home with many new, incomparable memories in your luggage. Safe travels!

Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Optional activities have very limited availability; we recommend booking them well in advance, often weeks or months before departure, as they may be fully booked by the time of travel.
