Whether traveling by snowmobile or dog sled on this wonderful journey, you are guaranteed to make countless memories and enjoy every second. During this tour, there will be two days for you to relax and spend at your leisure.
Winter Vacation Finland: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
After landing at Kajaani Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to the hotel. Explore the beautiful surroundings and move into your cosy room. The evening can be spent at your leisure, doing whatever you wish! You can explore further or relax in a traditional sauna.
Day 2: First husky tour in Scandinavia
Now your winter adventure really begins! Enjoy a hearty breakfast and get ready for this eventful day! At the nearby husky farm, you will be greeted by the excited huskies who will already be eagerly awaiting you. After an introduction to leading a team of dogs, you will be shown how to use the sled safely. The initial excitement quickly turns into silence, which is interrupted only by the paws of the huskies crunching on the untouched snow. Enjoy the tranquillity and beautiful views on a 6 km long husky tour through the wilderness of Finland. After the tour, you will have enough time to get to know the animals better and to warm up with a hot drink. Hot drinks are included and the duration of the excursion is 2,5 hours with transfers. End this eventful day in the sauna or in the outdoor pool.
Day 3: Snowmobile Safari
After a tasty breakfast, you will start today’s excursion, which will be the perfect activity for a winter vacation! On this day, a snowmobile tour is planned through the breathtaking nature of Vuokatti. Your local guide will lead the way, as we drive safely into the winter wonderland by snowmobiles. You will drive this safari with new Touring model snowmobiles – due to new technology they’re safer and more environmentally friendly as they produce lower emissions. On your way bac, you’ll stop for a break and enjoy hot drinks and sweet snacks. This safari suits well for beginners, too. The route length is about 20 km and the duration of the excursion is 2,5-3 hours with transfers. This tour is driven with 2 persons per snowmobile. After today’s adventure, relax and unwind at the hotel.
Day 4: Free day
Use this day for your personal interests and design it according to your own preferences. You can book one of the many additional excursions available, for example cross country skiing or snowshoeing, or spend the day relaxing at Katinkulta Spa or Superpark. You have the choice! Choose whatever you like to make your dream winter vacation perfect for you!
Day 5: Northern Lights Husky Adventure
In the morning and during the day time, you will have leisure time to do as you please. If you like, you can try some tobogganing or just relax at Katinkulta Spa. In the evening, it is time to hunt the Northern lights with huskies. Embrace the romance and beauty of the Arctic night! Powerful headlights cut through the darkness of the enchanted winter forest. As the forest gives way to the open frozen lake, on a clear night the heavens open up before your eyes hopefully offering up the spectacular scenery of the Northern Lights. Relax by the warmth of the fire in the traditional Mongolian Yurt as your guide serves up a traditional and delicious picnic dinner, then step outside for another spectacular view of the night sky. The driving distance today is 20 km and the duration of the excursion around 4 hours with transfers.
Day 6: Snowshoe Safari
Start with a hearty breakfast and get ready to enjoy the dreamlike nature in Vuokatti on a snowshoe safari and walk along breathtaking paths. Your guide will show you the most beautiful spots and tells you interesting stories about the history of this area and nature. In a relaxed atmosphere, take a break and warm up with hot drinks. Once you get back from your incredible snowshoe adventure, you will have plenty of time to enjoy a long sauna session or relax in the outdoor pool. The route length is about 2 km and the duration of the excursion is 2 hours with transfers.
Day 7: Free day
Your last day in the wilderness on the winter vacation Finland tour can be spent however you like. You can design it personally to suit your individual tastes, and according to your own ideas. Maybe you’ll just enjoy the nature, have another Husky Safari or hit the slopes – the choice is yours and there will definitely be something for everyone.
Day 8: Departure
After a final breakfast, a transfer will take you back to Kajaani Airport to begin your onward journey, and you will leave us with countless new experiences under your belt. You will remember this winter vacation for a long time to come and enjoy the memories fondly!
Accommodation:
During your winter vacation Finland tour, you will stay at Hotel Vuokatti in a cosy and stylish hotel room idyllically situated on Lake Nuasjärvi. The hotel complex has a gym, free parking, a private beach, free Wi-Fi, a spacious sauna with an outdoor pool, and the restaurant offers a delicious a la carte menu with stunning lake views.

The winter vacation Finland tour will provide you with breakfast on all days. Coffee, snacks, and some meals are included during the excursions. There are three restaurants nearby the hotel where you can get lunch and dinner: Hella, Amarillo and Kippo. The lobby bar is open also 24/7 (drinks & snacks available).

So eine Reise war schon immer unser Traum. Nun haben wir Sie gemacht und sind begeistert. Es war alles sehr gut organisiert. Auch das Flieger und Zug Verspätung hatten, war alles kein Problem. Die Kommunikation mit dem Hotel hat super funktioniert. Auch das unsere Koffer den Sprung von Helsinki nach Kajaani nicht geschafft hatten, war für die Mitarbeiter des Hotels kein Problem. Noch in der gleichen Nacht haben sie den Kontakt zu Finair hergestellt und sm nächsten Tag standen sie denn an der Information des Hotels.
Das Hotel ist nett, liegt traumhaft. Die Zimmer sind gross genug und sauber. Das Frühstück ist ebenfalls gut. Eine Abwechslung im Aufschnitt und Käse wäre wünschenswert. Der Service, wie schon erwähnt, einfach nur großartig und spitzenmässig.
Die Huskytouren haben uns sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Gut war die kleine Gruppe, so bekam man Kontakt zu den Hundeführern und Fahrerinnen. Wir haben uns jederzeit aufgehoben und sicher gefühlt. Die Betreuung auch während der Fahrten war außergewöhnlich. Das die Landschaft atemberaubend ist, muss ich wahrscheinlich nicht erwähnen. An dieser Stelle nochmals vielen Dank an alle. Ich kann verstehen, daß die Finnen die glücklichsten Menschen der Welt sind!
