Kebnekaise Mountain Tour – An incredible 7 day / 6 night husky tour around Sweden’s Highest Mountain. Unique experience of nature north of the polar circle.
Kebnekaise Mountain Tour: Unique experience of nature
Discover the mysterious charm of Kebnekaise, Sweden’s highest mountain, in this week long dogsledding tour. You will follow the King’s Trail across stunning alpine country where you will be privileged to see immense landscapes and endless horizons.
A good level of physical fitness is required for participation in this tour and you must be able to comfortably jog at least 5km as you will need to help the dogs as you cross the mountain passes. However no prior dogsledding experience is necessary – we will teach you what you need to know and you will be leading your team with confidence in no time at all!
Kebnekaise Mountain Tour: Tour Itinerary
Day 1:
The first night of the tour will be spent at a log cabin in Nikkaluokta in the heart of Lapland’s mountains. Weather permitting; your cabin will have breathtaking views of Kebnekaise. You will then meet your experienced guide, receive instruction on how to lead your team of dogs, and get to know your very excited huskies! Your guide will brief you on the route of the tour, and all kit and equipment checks will take place.

The next morning you will head out for your 5 day sledding trip through the mountains surrounding Kebnekaise. You can expect to travel between 20 and 40km each day (weather permitting). Our route will take us up through Vistas valley which provides some easy terrain for you to gain some quality dogmushing experience. From here we head over a pass to Alesjaure where we will rejoin the famous King’s Trail back to Nikkaluokta. Coffee breaks and lunches will be around an open fire where you can enjoy the tranquillity of the wilderness and take in the breathtaking scenery and local wildlife. Once night draws in keep your eyes peeled for a possible sighting of the phenomenal Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights.
Day 7:
At the end of your tour we will return to Nikkaluotka where you can refresh with a hot shower and sauna, and enjoy a sumptuous meal before returning home, taking with you many fantastic memories of your time husky sledding in Sweden.
Participants: 2-4 only
Accommodation: During the tour, accommodation will be primarily in basic but comfortable cabins (longdrop toilets, no running water or electricity). Some of these will have saunas to add to your comfort. Teamwork is a feature of this tour and every participant will be expected to join in with the day to day tasks such as fetching wood and water, and of course taking care of your four-legged friends!
Travel: Flight to Kiruna airport, then transfer to Nikkaluokta. Alternatively fly into Stockholm and take the comfortable night train to Kiruna, before transferring to Nikkaluokta.
Important informations: Thanks to the ever changing landscapes provided by Mother Nature, no tours are identical. The sights and sounds you will experience will create new and lasting memories of your time husky sledding. Don’t miss out; book your trip of a lifetime today!
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate).
