A week full of adventures and friendly huskies awaits you in a beautiful setting. Become a musher and lead your very own dog sled through the snow-covered winter landscape of Finland. Experience the simple life in the far north whilst staying overnight in a wilderness hut and get the chance to immerse yourself in nature. Briefly escape the stresses of everyday life for a while in this magical place and make memories that you can cherish forever.

Husky Week Finland: The itinerary

Day 1: Arrival
After landing, you will be welcomed at the airport and taken to the lodge where you will be served a homemade traditional Finnish dinner. Afterwards, enjoy a comfortable night's sleep, ready for the adventures that lie ahead.
The on-site travel services begin with dinner on the first day and end with breakfast on the last day.

Day 2: Explore the environment
After a restful night and a hearty breakfast, use this day to explore the surrounding area. You will receive information about the program for the coming days and will be provided with the appropriate clothes for polar temperatures.
Use this free time to get an overview of this wonderful place. Enjoy a private sauna in your hotel room and relax in the cosy atmosphere.

Day 3: First husky tour
Fill your belly and get ready for this eventful day, because today you will get to hop on the runners of your husky sled! After breakfast, you will be given an introduction to driving your own dog team and get to know the eager huskies. The initial excitement suddenly becomes quiet as soon as you leave the husky farm on an approximately 13 km test drive. A pleasant silence accompanies you throughout the excursion and is only interrupted by the paws of the huskies crunching on the snow underfoot. Back from this incredible tour, take care of your faithful four-legged companions and head back to the lodge for a delicious dinner.

Day 4: Husky day safari through dreamlike landscapes
After breakfast, return to the husky farm and welcome your familiar four-legged friends who will already be waiting for you. Today's tour will take you some 25 – 35 km through Finland's breathtaking scenery, dashing through snow-covered forests and open fields and gliding over frozen lakes. Enjoy the unique views that you will witness throughout the day and guide the sled along the curves of frozen rivers. Lunch is served outdoors around a campfire. Back at the lodge, a delicious warm Finnish dinner awaits you. Take advantage of your private sauna and relax.

Day 5: Overnight safari into the wilderness
On this day, you will set out with your own husky team into the wilderness of Finland. Surrounded by silence and beautiful nature, you will approach the simple, but cosy wilderness cabin Harjajärvi, where you will stay tonight. The cabin has a sauna but no shower, no indoor toilet and no electricity. You look after your own dog team and help to prepare the meals. The breakfast and dinner are served in the cabin, the lunch at a campfire in the wilderness. Keep your eyes open this evening, as you'll be far away from light pollution, and have the best conditions to observe the famous Northern Lights.

Day 6: Back to Civilization
After breakfast in the wilderness cabin, prepare your husky team for today's tour. Take in the silence again and enjoy this unique experience. Lunch is prepared around a campfire. Back at the lodge you can enjoy your private sauna once again and warm up after this exciting 2-day wilderness tour. In the evening, a hearty dinner will be prepared for you.

Day 7: Free day
Your last day in the far north can be spent at your leisure and can be used for more exciting events (see "Extras") or for relaxation, whichever you desire! On one afternoon of your trip, you have the opportunity to visit the smoke sauna, which is already included in the travel price for one afternoon. Also included is one Northern Lights evening. Plan the day according to your ideas and complete the evening with a final traditional dinner.

Day 8: Departure
Enjoy a final delicious breakfast surrounded by beautiful nature before you will be taken back to the airport and leave with countless new experiences under your belt, as well as many wonderful memories that will last a lifetime!

Accommodation:
You will spend most of the nights of this tour in a cosy apartment with its own sauna. The hotel is built entirely of wood and conveys a traditional and authentic atmosphere. Located directly on Lake Jokijärvi, this is the perfect starting point for your unique excursions. Each apartment has its own main entrance, separate sleeping and living area, toilet, shower, and private sauna. You spend one night in a rustic wilderness cabin, which is a shared accommodation without running water, electricity or indoor toilets. A sauna is available. After mid-January, there is a possibility to stay in an igloo for one of the nights (depending on the weather conditions).

Important information:
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, there is a special Christmas tour program. For New Year's Eve, there is an exclusive package that includes a New Year's Eve party in a Finnish Kota.

Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.

Januar 2024 - Ein wunderschöner Urlaub

Ein unverbindlicher und einzigartiger Urlaub. Die Huskys, die direkt neben der Unterkunft leben, waren unser absolutes Highlight. Das Programm ist sehr abwechslungsreich und vielfältig. Warme Klamotten wie bspw. Skianzüge und Schuhe sind in den unterschiedlichsten Größen vorhanden. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und gemütlich. Jedes Zimmer hat eine eigene Sauna im Badezimmer. Auch die Rauchsauna auf dem Gelände ist ein Erlebnis.
