Day 2 to 4: Multi Day Dog Sledding Expedition With Overnight Camp Stays
The days start with breakfast, feeding the dogs, as well as harnessing and unharnessing them, and preparing the sleds and team. The route depends on snow, weather and terrain and can lead through forest sections, across open plateaus, over frozen rivers or lakes, all the way to coastal landscapes. You drive your own dog team, which you share with one other person, and you take care of the daily routines of dog care throughout all stages. Along the way, meals are prepared outside with simple field equipment. In the evening, the group returns to camp, takes care of the dogs, feeds them and prepares everything for the resting phase, before the night in the heated Gamme tent in the wilderness follows.
Day 5, Farewell and Return Transfer
After breakfast, there is time for one last quiet moment with the dogs before the transfer back to Lakselv Airport takes place. After breakfast, the travel service ends.
Accommodation:
You will stay in a local lodge as well as in a heated gamme tent in the wilderness. The tour starts with one overnight in the lodge, followed by two camp nights during the expedition, and finishes with another night in the lodge. In camp, the emphasis is on practical routines, arriving, caring for the dogs, eating together, and preparing for the next stage. The overnights are part of the wilderness character and fit the Arctic conditions in which this trip takes place.
Special features:
The route and daily schedule depend on snow, weather, and terrain conditions, and may change accordingly. You are involved in the daily routines of preparing and caring for the dogs. Meals are prepared outdoors along the way with simple field equipment, which requires participation and care. Necessary equipment and an introduction for the activities are provided. Please also note that this offer is not wheelchair accessible.
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. Optional activities have very limited availability; we recommend booking them well in advance, often weeks or months before departure, as they may be fully booked by the time of travel.
