On the dog sled through the wild Lapland.
This trip is designed for anyone who wish to learn about dog sledding in just two days. You will be taught the fundamentals of this sport in a short period of time, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding landscapes on a tour into the woods. You'll spend the night in a wooden cabin in the middle of nowhere, caring for the dogs and feeling the spirit of untamed Lapland.
Arctic dog sledding experience in Finland: The itinerary
Day 1: Start of the wilderness expedition
Your adventure begins with pickup from Ivalo airport. Once you arrive at your final destination, an introduction to the world of sled dogs by an experienced guide awaits you. You will learn about the equipment and the sled and receive training in driving a dog sled. After the training, you will go on a tour of several hours over frozen lakes and rivers and through the forests of Northern Finland. Finally, you will reach a rustic wooden cabin, your accommodation for tonight (optional expedition tent). There, you will first take care of the dogs before preparing your own meal. Remember to look up at the sky regularly! Maybe the Northern Lights will pay you a visit.

After a delicious breakfast, you prepare the sled for the next trip. Admire once again the rugged nature of Lapland and be amazed by the views that will present themselves to you all over again. Have your camera ready! There are many opportunities for photos waiting! After this last tour, you will return to the starting point of your trip and from there you will be transferred back to Ivalo airport. The memories of this once-in-a-lifetime experience will surely stay with you for a long time.
Accommodation:
During this trip, you will spend the night together with the other participants in a shared wooden cabin in the middle of the untouched nature of Lapland. Please note that there is neither running water nor electricity in the cabin.
We recommend doing this tour only if you are already in Finland or if you are planning further trips there!

The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
