This Arctic expedition takes you into the spectacular landscapes of West Spitsbergen. Your journey begins in Longyearbyen on Svalbard, the northernmost permanently inhabited settlement in the world. After arrival, you spend the first night at the Radisson Blu Polar Hotel, before boarding your expedition vessel the following day. From here, your voyage continues along rugged coastlines, impressive glacier fronts and expansive fjord systems. Travelling by Zodiac and during guided shore landings, you explore remote bays and protected natural areas in an intensive and flexible way – always adapted to weather, ice and wildlife conditions. Accompanied by an experienced expedition team, you gain valuable insights into Arctic wildlife, geology and the fragile ecosystems of this region. The journey combines active exploration with comfortable life on board and plenty of time outdoors in nature.

Wildlife of the High Arctic:
With a little luck, you may encounter numerous representatives of Arctic wildlife in their natural environment throughout the voyage. West Spitsbergen is considered one of the most wildlife-rich regions of the European Arctic. Species that may be observed include:

- Polar bears
- Walruses
- Arctic foxes
- Svalbard reindeer
- Seal species such as bearded seals and ringed seals
- Various whale species, including belugas and minke whales
- Large seabird colonies with kittiwakes, black guillemots and puffins

Each Zodiac excursion and landing offers new opportunities for wildlife viewing – from the edge of the pack ice to glacier bays and steep bird cliffs.

Life on Board:
On board your expedition vessel MS Sea Spirit, you enjoy a personal atmosphere with a high level of comfort and short distances throughout the ship. Between daily landings and Zodiac excursions, there is time to relax, attend lectures by the expedition team and exchange experiences with fellow travellers. Full board with breakfast, lunch and dinner is included, as well as a 24-hour water, tea and coffee station and Wi-Fi access. Welcome and farewell cocktails complete the on-board experience. You will also be well equipped for all outdoor activities: a warm, weatherproof expedition jacket (parka) for Zodiac cruises and shore landings is included and yours to keep. Sturdy rubber boots are provided on loan, and you will receive a reusable water bottle for your excursions.
