During this 4 days / 3 nights journey you will experience a breathtaking whale watching adventure while staying at a comfortable lodge located in the Reisa valley.
See one of Norway’s most beautiful fjords with this wonderful whale watching experience. For the past few years, the killer whales and humpback whales have migrated to the region around the village of Skjervøy and the Reisafjord from late October until late January. Whale watching safaris in this region will give you a very close encounter with this impressive animal. During this short, but sweet journey, you will embark on a whale watching safari in the Reisafjord area and experience many natural events that are second to none.
Whale watching and Northern Lights from Reisafjord: The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Reisa Valley
After being picked up in Sørkjosen, you'll check in at the Reisastua Lodge, which is situated in the middle of a beautiful valley. From your room you have an excellent view of the nearby river or the surrounding mountains. Enjoy a delicious dinner in the evening, before you get a good night of sleep. If you're lucky, you'll see the Northern Lights dancing in the sky tonight.
Day 2 - 3: Excursions around the Reisafjord
Each day starts with a hearty breakfast. Afterwards, you will set off for either whale watching or a snowshoe hike. Upon your return, you'll have the opportunity to relax in the rooftop jacuzzi before dinner time. With a bit of luck, the amazing Northern Lights will await you in the enchanting night sky. On two days, unique Northern Lights activities are included in the tour price.
Whale Watching:
After a lecture about the whales and a safety briefing, you can start your own whale watching adventure. From November to January, the giant whales often hunt for herring off the coast around Reisa and Skjervøy. You'll get the chance to see them when they appear above the water. From the boat, you'll have a unique view of the fjord landscape and can discover the wild coast of Northern Norway from a completely new perspective. Snacks and hot drinks will be served during the tour.
Snowshoe Hike:
A snowshoe hike is the ideal way to get to know the area at your own pace. Immerse yourself in snow-covered forests and stunning views of the fjord and its surroundings. During a break, you can enjoy hot drinks and local snacks by the fire. The tour takes about 3 - 4 hours.
Day 4: Farewell & Departure
After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye. A transfer will take you back to Sørkjosen, so you can start your journey home from there. You will surely remember the unique experiences you made on this trip for a long time.
Accommodation:
Reisastua Lodge is located in the heart of the Reisa valley, known for its breathtaking arctic nature. Surrounded by mountains, rivers and forests, you can relax in spacious and luxurious rooms with all modern amenities. You have the choice between large double rooms with en-suite bathrooms or a small apartment with three bedrooms and a private entrance. There is an outdoor Jacuzzi on the rooftop, which invites you to spend relaxing hours. The lodge also has a bar and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. The food that you can enjoy on your trip is prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
How to get there:
On this trip, a transfer from Sørkjosen to your accommodation is included in the price. Sørkjosen can be reached from Tromsø, either by plane with the airline Widerøe or by bus via the Arctic Route.
There is also the option of a transfer from Skjervøy for a small fee. You can travel there by ship with Hurtigruten or Havila.

The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc).
