Lapland's wilderness with your own dog sled: the itinerary
1st Day: Arrival in Merasjärvi
Fly to Kiruna, where your one-hour transfer to the Huskykompaniet husky farm awaits. Move into your own authentic wooden hut right on the farm and settle in. The rustic accommodation is equipped with a wood-fired oven and electricity; each hut sleeping up to 2 people. Enjoy a welcome dinner with the rest of your tour group, where your guide will discuss the course of the tour over the next few days.
2nd Day: The first sled tour
After breakfast, the adventure begins! Look forward to the exciting day ahead and meet the friendly huskies for the first time. You will be thoroughly instructed in the handling of sled dogs and the knowledge of sledding, and then the dog teams will be divided and prepared together. Then we head off on the first sled tour of the trip! Experience the breathtaking nature of Swedish Lapland and let your own dog sled team take you into the wilderness. On the way, take a break and prepare a simple Swedish wilderness lunch. You can enjoy moose meat, locally caught fish, or reindeer. In the afternoon you will return to the farm.

3rd-4th Days: Through the last wilderness of Lapland
Over these days you will travel over frozen lakes and through the forests of Lapland. You will be able to enjoy the majestic beauty of this frozen wilderness, exploring the scenic nature with your faithful dogs. No two days will be the same and you will see many different things on your adventure! We will cover a distance of some 30 km and head to a beautiful secluded location which will be your camp for the night. Spend your evening enjoying a soothing traditional sauna and keeping your eye peeled for the spectacular Northern Lights. Your chances here out in the wilderness to see the breathtaking natural light display will be incredibly high, as you will be away from noise and light pollution. Each tour is adapted individually to the respective weather conditions because a diverse tour programme is very important to us. Stay overnight in the wilderness camp and return to the husky farm in the afternoon of the 4th day.
5th Day: Discover Lapland
Today is at your leisure and you can spend the day however you want! Explore by foot, relax in the sauna or opt for some additional activities (at extra cost) to keep you entertained. Available activities include snowshoeing, ice fishing, a guided snowmobile tour or a sleigh ride.
6th Day: Departure
After a final breakfast together, you will say goodbye to Kiruna and head back to the airport, where you will catch your onward flight. You will leave with plenty of fantastic memories to cherish and great stories to tell when you arrive home!

Traveller Requirements:
This sled dog trip is an active holiday and requires not only a good level of fitness but also teamwork. During the wilderness overnight stay, activities such as collecting water, chopping wood, cooking, and caring for the dogs are organised and carried out together as a team. Fear of contact with dogs is rather hindering. If you enjoy the simple life, without luxury and with simple standards, this program is just right for you. Activities such as heating the sauna and your own hut are part of the daily routine. The daily schedule can vary in its order.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate).
