Jack London husky tour: the itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and dinner
On the first day, your tour guide will pick you up in the morning at Kiruna airport or at a hotel in the city, and you will drive to the starting point of the tour, which is just a few kilometers outside the city.
At 10 o'clock, over a cup of warm coffee made over an open fire, you can get acquainted with your guide, who will give you all the information about the trip and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. After getting equipped and meeting your companions, the friendly huskies, the guide will give you a short lesson on how to drive a sled, harness a dog and attach it to the lines. Once everyone is ready, you'll head out for a short trial run to familiarize yourself with the dogs, sled, and equipment. When you return, dinner will be cooked over an open fire and served in a grill hut where you will spend the evening with your guide and the cuddly dogs. After dinner, it is time to go to bed and rest in the lodge.
All pictures of this partner Day 2: Departure into the wilderness
You will start the day with a hearty breakfast at the Husky Lodge. Afterwards, you are welcome to help out outside and assist the guides with their morning chores. Afterwards, you'll load up the sleds with the food and gear needed for the adventure and head out into the wilderness! On this day, you will travel 40 to 50 km through forests, across snow-covered swamps and frozen rivers and lakes towards the Alajarvi Nature Reserve. The area is the winter home of moose, so you will have a chance to meet the king of the forest and other wildlife. After taking care of the dogs and setting up the camp, you will have a warm dinner and spend the night in tents and warm winter sleeping bags.
Day 3: Continuation of dog sledding and ice fishing
In the morning, first the dogs are taken care of, then it's time for your breakfast. When everyone has eaten, you pack your sleds and set off again. You will cover a similar distance today as the day before (40 to 50 km) and also have the opportunity to try your luck at ice fishing at some of the best fishing spots in the area. Today's ride will take you to a cabin on the Rautas River, where you will enjoy a tasty dinner and spend the night either in a cabin or in a heated Venor tent. There is even a sauna for you here!
Day 4: Last day in the wilderness and farewell
Unfortunately, today is already the last day of your arctic adventure. Like all the others, you will start it with a delicious meal, first for the dogs and then for the humans. After breakfast, it's time to return to the starting point and civilization, but not before enjoying one last beautiful ride that will bring you back to the husky camp after about 20 km. You will meet again in the grill hut for a last snack with coffee and exchange thoughts and memories of the trip with your guide, who will take you to your hotel or airport in Kiruna in the early afternoon. There, your trip will end with many unforgettable memories.
Accommodation
Rooms at the Husky Lodge and in partly heated winter tents and cabins. Please note that some wilderness accommodations do not have running water and electricity. Some of these are shared accommodations. If you are interested, additional nights can be booked in the "Arctic Aurora Dome" or in the "Mongolian Yurt". Here you are completely alone under the stars, in the heart of nature and surrounded by sled dogs. The Arctic Aurora Dome is a cozy tent with a glass roof and a glass front, so you have a good chance to see the magical Northern Lights dancing in the sky. The Mongolian yurt is made of eco-friendly, natural products such as wood, sheep's wool, felt and cotton and has been the traditional dwelling of Mongolian nomads for thousands of years. No matter which accommodation you choose, you will never forget these beautiful nights. During the additional days, you have the possibility to do further husky tours. Feel free to contact us if you are interested!

Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. Note: We recommend booking additional categories and guided activities directly with the tour package (several weeks or months before arrival), as these may be fully booked at the time of travel.
