A very special winter holiday: During your 8 day / 7 night stay in Sweden you will experience nature from a special perspective and explore unfamiliar paths. Your faithful husky team will accompany you on your expedition.
This trip in beautiful Sweden takes you on remote paths into a dreamlike and untouched landscape. You will spend days out and about exploring with your very own loyal husky team, with a traditional "pulka" in tow. The pulka is a special sled that you can pull behind you with a waist belt, making it very easy to transport luggage. Complete freedom awaits you and an adventurous expedition for experienced skiers or beginners on skis. You will first learn how to deal with the pulka and huskies, and then head out on a day tour. Following your day tour, you will then set off on a three-day wilderness tour. During your stay, you will have the best chance to see the magical Northern Lights.
Husky Expedition on Skis: The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
At the airport, you will be met by your hosts and taken to the husky farm. The closer you get to them, the smaller and quieter the snow-covered streets will become. With a bit of luck, you will see reindeer or moose on arrival. You will move into the guest house and be warmly welcomed by your hosts. End the evening with a warm dinner and discuss the adventures that are planned for the next few days.
All pictures of this partner Day 2: First Excursion and Introduction
You will start the day with a hearty breakfast. Next, get to know the huskies and learn how to handle the pulka. You will learn the basics of skiing and gain some experience on the adjacent frozen lake. This day will allow you enough time to practice and get used to the handmade wooden skis, whilst also exploring the stunning surroundings. Back at the husky farm, you can warm-up and end the day in a relaxed manner. With a bit of luck, you might see the Northern Lights dancing in the night sky above you.
Day 3: Day Trip with your Huskies
Before breakfast, you will have the opportunity to help feed the huskies. After you have enjoyed a hearty breakfast and got yourself ready, the pulkas will be packed and the dogs prepared for the journey. Today, a longer tour is planned following your successful test run on the lake the day before. Your planned route will take you across Lake Storavan to Mount Njunjesvarrie, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view. Lunch will be served outside during this excursion and you can enjoy the wild nature and beauty of Sweden to the fullest. Back on the farm, you will help take care of the dogs and relax after an eventful day.
Day 4: A Day at Leisure
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and get ready for another day in the beautiful nature of the north! This day is entirely at your disposal and can be planned according to your own ideas. Borrow snowshoes or ice fishing accessories from your hosts and head out into the surrounding countryside. Relax by the warm stove or spend time with the dogs - you decide. In the evening everyone will come together for dinner and discuss the overnight tour for the next few days.
Day 5: With the Pulka into the Wilderness
After breakfast, pack your pulka for two nights in the wilderness, far away from civilization. Complete freedom and endless expanses of this magical landscape await you in the coming days. Together with your hosts and the loyal huskies, you will set out through snow-covered forests and over frozen lakes and swamps. All the while, you will be looking for the perfect spot to set up your camp for the night near Mount Jallaga. Dinner will be prepared and with a little luck, you may be surprised by the glowing Northern Lights making an appearance later in the evening.
Day 6: Freedom on Skis
As soon as you have left your warm sleeping bag, a hearty cooked breakfast will be waiting for you. Enjoy a spectacular view along with a hot cup of coffee before heading back out into the wilderness for more adventure. Get the pulka and dogs ready to set off and immerse yourself in the depths of the wintry landscape once again. At the foot of the Starkbords mountain, you will stop at an abandoned Sami tipi, which is also called "Kata". The natives used to spend the nights in these small tipis on their travels with the reindeer. Here you will set up your camp for the second night and prepare everything for another overnight stay in the wilderness.
Day 7: On the Way Back to the Farm
This day also starts exceptionally, at the foot of a very impressive mountain. Enjoy a hot breakfast and then pack all your things together. Today you will follow in the footsteps of the indigenous people that travelled this landscape before you. Depending on the weather and the group's ability, this day can be planned flexibly, with a choice of stick to the groomed trails or perhaps off-road. Whichever route is chosen, you will make your way back to the husky farm and end the last day in the far north relaxing in the hot sauna.
Day 8: Departure
After one last breakfast together, you will have to say a fond farewell to the dogs. Your hosts will take you back to the airport, where you will begin your onward journey. You will remember the adventurous time in Sweden for years to come, and have plenty of wonderful stories to tell your loved ones when you arrive home!
Accommodation: On the husky farm you will live in the guest house, which is approx. 40 metres away from the main house. The guest house has several bedrooms, which are spread over two floors. There is a bathroom with a sink and toilet on the upper and lower floors. The shower on the lower floor is shared by all guests. A lounge and cooking facilities are available and can be used together. Additional beds and cots can be arranged. The food is always served in the main building. Free WiFi is available. During the wilderness nights, you will spend the nights in tents without running water or electricity.
Transfer: An arranged transfer is possible from either the Arvidsjaur (AJR), Skelleftea (SFT), or Umea (UME) airports. The transfer from Arvidsjaur is included in the tour price and takes about an hour. The transfer from/to Umea takes about 4.5 hours by car and is charged with a total surcharge of €200 (there and back). For the transfer from and to Skelleftea, there is a surcharge of €150 for both ways (2.5 hours by car each way).

The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc).
