Husky Wilderness Adventure: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Husky Introduction
As soon as you arrive at the Nordic Husky Farm, you will be greeted by the barking of the enthusiastic husky pack. After you have settled into your cosy log cabin, you will be given a tour of the kennel and enjoy a welcome dinner with local specialities in the evening. Your hosts will then introduce you to the program of the next few days. As night falls, you can watch the fascinating Northern Lights from the veranda of your log cabin.
Catering starts with dinner on the first day and ends with the wilderness lunch on the last day.
Day 2: The first dog sled ride
Today, you will finally learn how to harness the dogs and drive the sled! Under the guidance of experienced mushers, you will embark on an exciting sled dog tour through the boreal forest. Lunch is cooked over a campfire en route. In the afternoon, you can explore the surroundings of the husky farm on foot or relax in your cabin. If you wish, you can try you hand at ice fishing. The day ends with a Sami-inspired dinner made from local, wild ingredients.

After a hearty breakfast, you set off with the huskies on a guided snowshoe hike to search for tracks of moose, foxes and other wild animals in the snow. Accompanied by unique, snow-covered landscapes, you make your way to a shelter by the lake. Here you can warm up with a meal over a crackling campfire. Back at the husky farm, you can spend the afternoon as you wish until dinner awaits you. Before going to bed, you should keep an eye out for the Northern Lights!
Day 4: Nature walk & herbal workshop
Today will take you on a calming walk through the forest, led by one of your hosts - an experienced and certified herbalist. Along the way, you will learn more about the healing properties of wild plants and collect ingredients for making forest tea, which you will prepare and drink yourself around the campfire. You can then enjoy a hot lunch at the husky farm before countinuing with the workshop and making natural products together. The day ends with another delicious dinner.
Day 5: Farewell tour with the huskies & departure
You will spend your last morning on a three-hour sled dog tour across a frozen lake, surrounded by breathtaking views of the highlands. Look out for the tracks of wild animals on the ice as you travel with your team of huskies. You will take a break on the shore or on one of the many islands to take care of the dogs and have lunch yourself lunch and then return to the husky farm. After this, it is unfortunately time to say goodbye - unless you would like to stay another night and rest before your departure or extend your adventure in the winter wonderland. In this case, please contact us.
Accommodation:
Your accommodation is a cosy, rustic log cabin or a guest room at the Nordic Husky Farm in the tiny village of Vedjeön. Both options offer you a comfortable retreat in the middle of the nowhere and let you enjoy the peace and quiet after an eventful day. Let us know your preferred accommodation so that we can check availability for your preferred dates.
The cabin is electrically heated and equipped with two bunk beds, a small kitchenette with fridge, freezer, dishes and cooking utensils, a coffee machine, French Press, toaster, kettle, and shoe dryer. The guest bathroom is approx. 15 m away from the main house and has its own entrance for guests.
The guest room in the main house has a bunk bed and a sofa bed, a mini-fridge, a kettle, a toaster and French Press. There is also a private guest entrance across the hallway from the guest bathroom.
Tips for getting there:
The best way to reach the husky farm is by plane via Stockholm to Åre/Östersund or by train to Östersund or Strömsund. From there, a transfer can be organized for an extra charge. Please contact us if you are interested.

The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc).
