Husky Wilderness Adventure: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & getting to know each other
You can be picked up in Strömsund or Östersund, either at the bus station or the airport. When you arrive at the husky farm, you will be greeted by the barking of the enthusiastic husky pack. After you have settled into your comfortable log cabin or guest room, you will be given a guided tour of the kennel and enjoy a welcome dinner with local specialties in the evening. Your hosts will then introduce you to the program for the next few days. As night falls, you can look out for the fascinating Northern Lights from the veranda of your log cabin.
Meals start with dinner on the first day and end with lunch in the wilderness on the last day.
Day 2: The first dog sled ride
Today you will learn how to harness the dogs and drive the sled! Under the guidance of experienced mushers, you embark on an exciting dog sled tour through the snow-covered forest. Lunch is cooked over a campfire. In the afternoon, you can explore the surroundings of the husky farm on a short walk to the lakeshore or relax in your cabin. If you like, you can try your hand at ice fishing. The day ends with a Sami-inspired dinner made from local, wild ingredients.

After a hearty breakfast, you set off on a guided snowshoe hike with the huskies, tracking down the tracks of moose, foxes and other wild animals in the snow. Accompanied by unique, snow-covered landscapes, you make your way to a shelter by the lake. Here you can warm up with a meal over a crackling campfire. Back at the husky farm, you can spend the afternoon as you wish before dinner awaits you. Before going to bed, you should definitely keep an eye out for the Northern Lights!
Day 4: Nature hike & herbal workshop
Today takes you on a calming walk through the forest, led by one of your hosts - an experienced herbalist. Along the way, you will learn more about the healing properties of wild plants and collect ingredients for making forest tea. You will prepare this yourself around the campfire and enjoy it afterwards. You can then enjoy a hot lunch at the husky farm before continuing with a workshop on making natural products. The day ends with another delicious Swedish dinner.
Day 5: Farewell tour with the huskies & departure
You spend your last morning on a three-hour sled dog tour across a frozen lake, surrounded by breathtaking views of the highlands. Watch out for the tracks of wild animals on the ice as you travel with your sled dog team. Take a break on the shore or on one of the many islands to feed the dogs and have lunch yourself before returning to the husky farm. Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period.
