There is a traditional log cabin and a cozy sauna waiting for you, where you can relax after the tours, enjoy the silence and process the impressions!
Winter week in Northern Sweden - The itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival in the afternoon or evening, you will be picked up from the train station in Nattavaara. After a short drive you will get to know the husky camp and the huskies. You will receive the first information about the schedule of the next days and in your home for the next 8 days, a traditional log cabin, a welcome food basket for dinner and the first overnight stay is already waiting for you.
Day 2: first dog sledding trip
After you have strengthened yourself in your cabin with a selfmade breakfast, it goes off to the first husky tour! Now it's time to lend a hand, put the harnesses on the dogs and prepare the sleds. As soon as everything is ready, you can make yourself comfortable on one of the sleds and enjoy the breathtaking snowy landscape during the tour. The round will be about 12 to 15 km long and afterwards you will have time for yourself, for a relaxing evening in your cabin and a visit to the sauna if you want.
Day 3: second dog sledding tour and instruction in dog sledding
You are again responsible for your breakfast, after which you are ready to go again! As on the previous day, you help to harness the dogs and then make yourself comfortable on the sled for a 12 to 15 km tour.
Upon your return, you will receive a theory session on the basics of dog sledding, because the day after tomorrow you will be driving your own sled dog team!
Day 4: free day
Today is your day off! Explore the area, take time to take pictures, play with the dogs, relax in the sauna or just read a book and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Day 5: Your first ride as a musher
The time has come! After breakfast the sleds will be prepared, the dogs will be harnessed and then you will steer your own sled for the first time. You will get a team of 3 to 4 dogs, your team for the 12 to 15 km tour, with which you will gain your first experience as a musher (dog sled driver).
Day 6: Husky hike
Prepare a nice breakfast and then get ready for a hike with the huskies. Everyone gets his or her own dog and you will walk for about one to two hours through the surroundings of nattavaaraby. Don't forget your camera to capture the unique moments with the dogs in the deep snowy landscape!
Day 7: Final tour with your own team
The schedule is similar to the last days, you will strengthen yourself properly before it goes on your last and longest tour as a musher. Together you prepare the dogs and sleds, then set off as the driver of your own husky team for a 20 to 25 km long final round. If the distance of the last tours was enough for you, you can tell your guide and shorten the tour a bit. Enjoy the endless space and untouched nature once again, but don't forget to pay attention to the route!
Day 8: Departure
A week can pass so fast! Unfortunately, this morning it is already time to pack your bags and say goodbye. Cuddle the dogs one more time and have a last look around before you are brought back to Nattavaara train station after breakfast, where your husky adventure started 8 days ago. From there you will start your return journey with many unforgettable memories and a wealth of experience enriched with new knowledge. Have a good trip!

Upon arrival a food basket will be waiting for you and during your stay there will be one common dinner and one common fika (Swedish coffee break) by the fire.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc).
