Tour Itinerary
Day 1: You will be transferred from Whitehorse airport to the camp where you can meet the rest of your tour group and your guide will give you information about the trip ahead. You will also be given the clothes and equipment needed for the tour. Then it is time to meet your excited huskies who cannot wait to get to know you! Once the sleds are packed you will head out to your first destination which is Annie Lake, where you will camp for the night at Wild Bay.
Day 2: After breakfast you will continue on your tour, where your trail will take you up a moderate incline with beautiful views to Red Ridge and Hodnet Lake. Overnight camping will be in Hodnet Valley, surrounded by the vast and mysterious mountain landscape.
Day 3: During day three you will guide your faithful huskies through changing terrain until you reach the Alligator trail, where you will spend the night camping in the peaceful valley
Day 4: Another day of dog sled driving beckons as you make your way to Coal Lake, camping nearby for the night.
Day 5: Day five will see you leading your four legged friends to the tranquil Lewes Lake, where you can enjoy the peace and fresh air before camping on one of the islands.
Day 6: On the final day of your husky sledding experience you must return back to the kennel where it is time to bid a fond farewell to your furry friends and thank them for all of their hard work. You will then be transferred back to Whitehorse where you will continue on your journey home with many amazing memories of your time husky sledding in Canada.
Group size: Due to the intense nature of this husky sledding tour, we must limit group size to a maximum of four participants.
Note: Both the terrain and weather conditions of this trip will be changeable. We could experience a variety of inclines, declines and areas of plateau through everything from warm sunshine to intense snowstorms. For this reason, physical fitness is must for all participants as it will be challenging for the humans and dogs alike.
It is also for these reasons that it is crucial that all participants have dog sledding experienced, and you will be asked about the extent of your knowledge and skills before we will accept any bookings on to this particular husky tour.
Additional Information:
The order of tours and activities within this itinerary may vary due to weather conditions and other contributing factors that must be taken into account by the guides when planning your tour. You will receive the exact order of activities once you arrive on site. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. The safety of guests and animals comes first, and for this reason, we reserve the right to change the itinerary and intensity of activities if and when needed. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate).
