Private Winter Holiday in Sweden: The itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at the husky farm
Your hosts will be waiting for you at lunchtime to welcome you with a hot drink. You can then relax in your own log cabin or already explore your new surroundings on your own. We reccommend a short hike to the lake behind your cabin. In the evening, you will enjoy a dinner together by the fire in the traditional ‘kåta’ log cabin. With a few exceptions, the meals are mainly prepared by yourself in the kitchen of your cabin. Detailed information on catering can be found below the descriptions of the single days.

Day 2: Meet the huskies
Today, you finally get to know the huskies and make friends with those cuddly animals. On a first tour (2 persons / sled), you will learn the basics of dog sledding and can familiarise yourself with the techniques. A maximum of 2 other guests who would also like to immerse themselves in the world of sleddogs may take part in this tour. You will prepare your own dinner in your cabin in the evening. Afterwards, you can end the day relaxing in your own sauna.
Day 3: On the trail of reindeer and moose
After breakfast, you will meet your guide, who will take you on an exciting nature safari into the depths of the forest. On snowmobiles (2 persons / snowmobile), you will explore the Swedish wilderness and search for reindeer and moose. While doing so, you can admire the snow-covered landscape and look forward to lunch by the open fire. Back at the husky farm, you can relax a little before preparing your dinner in your cabin. How about a visit to the sauna before your well-earned night's sleep?
Day 4 - 5: Into the wilderness with husky sleds
Now that you have learnt the basics of dog sledding, you will set off on a private, two-days tour. You will have lunch by the fire en route. The destination of the trip is a rustic wilderness hut, where you will spend the night. Before you can sit back and relax, however, the dogs need to be fed and thanked for their hard work. Then, it's time for your own dinner. During this wilderness tour, you will get your water from a nearby lake. Keep your eyes open in the evening: The seclusion of the wilderness hut provides the ideal conditions for spotting the famous Northern Lights.
The next day, after breakfast, it's back on the dog sled to return to the husky farm. Enjoy the peace and quiet that surrounds you once again, interrupted only by the crunching of the snow under the dogs' feet. Once there, you can recover from these eventful days in the sauna or cook dinner in your cabin.
Day 6: Your own adventure
On this day, you can decide for yourself which adventure you would like to embark on after breakfast. You can take the bus to Jokkmokk, which is home to the AJTTE, the Sami and Mountain Museum. There are also some nice shops in the town where you can browse to your heart's content. When visiting Jokkmokk, you will have lunch in a restaurant there. Alternatively, you can borrow snowshoes and go on a hike through the snow-covered surroundings. You can easily find your way along a prepared and marked trail. If you are departing on the night train, you will unfortunately have to say goodbye today after dinner in the traditional kåta cabin. If you continue your journey by bus to Luleå, you will stay another night in your cabin next to the husky farm.
Day 7: Farewell & journey home
Today, after breakfast, the journey home begins for those travelling by bus to Luleå. Enjoy the marvellous views of the white winter forest one last time. With a bit of luck, you may spot moose and reindeer among the trees, wishing you a safe journey. In Luleå, you can change to a connecting bus that will take you to the airport in around 10 minutes. We wish you many wonderful memories of your time in Swedish Lapland!
More information about this holiday:
Your cabin is nicely placed on the edge of the forest, right next to the husky farm. You will be the only guests staying here. There is also a wood stove heated sauna, which you will have all to yourself!
The husky farm you are staying at is an ecotourist husky farm that emphasizes good dog care. You will get to meet the huskies and their presence will really add to your winter holiday! There is just something special about the huskies howling in the winter night.
On the arrival day and on the last night, your hosts will cook your dinner over a fire in the traditional log hut. On the other nights, you will be provided with the ingredients and recipes to cook your own dinner in the kitchen of your cabin. This is all local food, and the recipes are fool-proof. Plus, there are some really tasty vegetarian options! The exact arrival and departure times depend on the individual travel times of the customers, the tour program begins with dinner on the first day and ends with breakfast on the day of departure.
The hosts will also provide you with breakfast. During the dog sledding tours and the nature safari by snowmobiles, a simple lunch will be made over a fire. The other lunches consist of sandwiches, that you can take along if you are out snowshoeing – or you can just eat lunch at home in the cabin.
If you want to do some additional shopping or visit the Sami and Mountain Museum Ajtte, you can use the bus service to Jokkmokk (30 minutes away).
Included in the tour price are:
• Stay in your own private log cabin
• Your own wood stove heated sauna with plenty of snow to roll in
• Two dinners prepared over the fire in the traditional log cabin

• A food basket for all other meals (breakfasts, lunches and dinners) which you will prepare yourself in the cabin
• Bedlinen and towels
• 1-day & 2-days dog sledding tour. The 2-days tour includes an overnight stay in a wilderness hut
• Nature safari by snowmobile (2 persons / snowmobile); possibility of ice fishing

• Exclusive husky tours of varying lengths, from day tours to a 2-days husky tour with overnight stay in the wilderness.
Number of participants:
2-4 persons
Accommodation:
The log cabin has a basic, but comfortable standard. It is heated by a heat pump, which keeps the cabin at a constant comfortable temperature. There is electricity and a 4G signal for internet, but the water comes from a water canister with a tap. There is no shower, but there is a washing room inside the cabin and you can also use the sauna for washing. The toilet is outside, but has a nice styrofoam seat, so you can sit comfortably warm even on cold days! There are two sleeping rooms: a 4-person room with bunk beds and a 2-person room with 2 single beds. During the two-day husky tour, you and your fellow travelers will stay in a shared wilderness cabin without running water or electricity. An outdoor toilet is within easy reach of the cabin.
Getting there:
If you come from abroad, you can take a flight to Arlanda Airport / Stockholm and then take the comfortable night train directly from the airport to Murjek, where you will be picked up. It’s a relaxed and comfortable way of getting there as well as it’s better for the environment – still it will take you a little longer then flying the whole way. Mind that you can only be picked you up from the train that arrives at midday, and not the early morning train!
Alternatively, you can book a connecting flight from Stockholm / Arlanda to Kallax Airport in Luleå. From Luleå you can take the bus line 44 from the bus station in the city centre to the husky farm in Kåskats. There is even a special flight taxi (line 712) at a heavily discounted price. You will need to book this special flight taxi in advance, and you will need to be able to show the flight number of your connecting flight.
Winter clothing:
The winter clothing (see equipment list) is available for the entire stay. However, you should bring your own hiking boots and clothes for snowshoeing, as the snow boots on site are a little too big and bulky and the jackets a little too warm for hiking. Suitable clothing for snowshoeing are ski pants and jacket, long underwear, two layers of socks, a hat and gloves or mittens. Sunglasses and sunscreen are also recommended.
Other important information:
We want to create a 100% smoke free and perfume free environment, and we therefore respectfully ask smokers to book elsewhere. We also want to ask you kindly, not to use any strongly perfumed products like deodorant or perfume on this holiday.
Note:
During your stay, husky tours with other guests may start on some days. However, this will not affect you in any way, and you are welcome to watch the dog teams set off.
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate).
