Day 2: Your Husky Tour Through the Land of the Sámen Begins
After a hearty breakfast, you will be taken to get fitted for your cold-weather gear, after which you will be organized into teams. You will be taught the basics of caring for your dogs and given an introduction to driving the sleds. It will then be time to meet your team of excited huskies before heading out on the first leg of your tour! Starting from the lodge, a steep climb up to the mountain plateau will be followed by exhilarating mushing across wintery hillsides, frozen lakes, and snowy marshes. Enjoy every second out in the stunning wilderness; soon you will reach the Gardin mountain cabin, where you will spend the night and can relax and rest up.
Day 3: Stunning views in the Arctic Tundra
Hop back on the curves of your sled! Today you will reach the mountain plateau and Arctic Tundra, where you will witness breathtaking scenery and endless views across the windy and wintery wilds of Norway. Accommodation overnight will be in the jewel of the plateau, the Mollisjok mountain cabin, which provides a truly 'off the grid' experience.
Day 4: The Original Life of Sámi
On today's route, you will follow the river further south past two remote Sámi settlements. You may see residents in the traditional, colorful clothing with their reindeer. These nature-loving people make their living even today with reindeer herding and fishing. Take in the lifestyle of these people and let yourself be enchanted. Your accommodation will be the Soussjavre mountain lodge, which has a stunning location right at the lake.
Day 5: Freedom and endless Winter Pastures
Your Huskies will welcome you in the morning with a loud and excited howl, ready to get going on the next leg of your adventure! This day will take you through endless winter pastures, which are crucial for the reindeer. If you are lucky, you may see big herds in their natural habitat. Accommodation for the next two nights is in the Baeivasgiedde wilderness cabin, which is located in a beautiful and peaceful pine forest.
Day 6: A Day in the Life of a Sámi Reindeer Breeder
Today, you will experience something truly unique and unforgettable. You will be picked up with a snowmobile and travel in a sled off the beaten track to get to know the life of a traditional Sámi reindeer herder! This privilege is made possible by a generous Sámi family from Karasjok.
Day 7: Return to Karasjok - the city of Sámen
On the last stretch of your journey back to Karasjok, you continue your journey through breathtaking winter landscapes. Keep your eyes peeled: You might see moose, who like to gather in the valley during the winter. In Engholm, a hearty, hot meal is waiting for you. On request, you will be greeted with a heated sauna or an outdoor hot tub after your wilderness trip. You may even experience the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, in their magical dance across the Norwegian sky. Your last night will be spent back at the lodge.
Day 8: Departure
After a delicious final breakfast, your program sadly comes to an end. However, we would be happy to arrange some extra days for you to show you more of the magic of Norway if you would like to extend. Please ask for more information if this interests you! When your trip is over, you can be sure to take back some amazing memories of your Sámi Land tour in Norway and plenty of intriguing stories to share with your loved ones.
Accommodation: Accommodation on the first and last night of the tour will be in the comfortable Engholm Husky Design Lodge. During your tour, you will sleep in cozy, shared wilderness cabins. Please note that these cabins are without electricity and constant running water.
Important information: Thanks to the ever-evolving landscape provided by Mother Nature, no two tours are identical. The unique sights and sounds you will experience will provide you with amazing memories of your time husky sledding in Norway. Don’t miss out; book your trip of a lifetime today!
Requirements: Even if you have never been on a dog sled, you will learn all the skills on this trip in order to be able to independently lead your own husky team with a partner on a tandem sled. The only requirements are good condition, a sense of balance, the ability to concentrate, and joy in dealing with the capable huskies. If you are able to run your own team or have already gained experience, you can also lead your own husky team. The interconnected sleds can be easily separated so that you can switch from a tandem to a solo dog sled at a later time. This decision is made jointly by the passengers and the guide. Please note that this adventurous journey requires teamwork and that you actively work on tasks such as fetching water, cooking, or chopping wood.

Travel costs:
As this trip is a private tour, the costs depend on the number of participants. If you book this trip, you will stay among yourselves for the booked date and only travel with the people you have booked the trip with. The price quoted is valid for a booking of four people. The travel price is reduced if there are more participants, and increased if there are only two, three or one of you.
Different cancellation conditions: For this destination, 100% cancellation fees apply after a confirmed booking. For this reason, we recommend that clients take out insurance in this case. If the participant does not wish to (or cannot) take part in what is booked - no refund is granted. Additionally, further costs may arise if cancellation occurs before the final payment is made.
Additional Information:
The safety of our guests and animals is our top priority on all of our tours. The far north can have fluctuating and unpredictable weather with very strong temperature differences. Whilst we strive to follow the planned trails as closely as possible, we reserve the right to change the order of activities, the route of safaris, and the intensity of the excursions should the needs of our guests or animals necessitate it, or if the weather conditions compromise our pre-planned route. This involves both adjustments due to insufficient snow (meaning we cannot drive the sleds) or too much snow (snowstorms and extreme cold can cause accidents and various other problems). The required adjustments and fallback options in rare cases are based on the day-to-day conditions and can be compensated by shorter or longer daily stages, alternative accommodations, or even single day trips. In extremely rare cases we may organise alternative transport (ie. cars, quad bikes, etc). Feel free to contact us if you would like a more detailed assessment of this tour and travel period. The service providers and tour providers always perform their services in compliance with and in accordance with the official requirements and requirements applicable at the time of stay. For this reason, corona-related reasonable usage rules or restrictions may arise when using said services. Please note these official requirements (Google Translate). Show all dates
