'‘’‘Wild East Greenland: The itinerary’‘’'
'‘'Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik’
You will arrive in the afternoon in the impressive city of Reykjavik, which will delight you with its unique sights and welcoming atmosphere. The striking columns of the Hallgrímskirkja church dominate the skyline of this Scandinavian capital. After a warm welcome on board the Ocean Albatros and mandatory safety training, enjoy a delicious dinner with a glass of sparkling wine as the ship sets sail. Let yourself be carried away by the anticipation of the adventures ahead as we sail across the Denmark Strait towards Greenland.
'‘'Day 2: At sea - crossing the Denmark Strait’
The Denmark Strait, which separates Iceland from Greenland, is known for its productive waters where cold and warm currents meet. During our time at sea, we organize a variety of activities to keep mind, body and soul occupied. Attend lectures on the history and nature of Greenland in the theater, relax with a massage in the Albatros Polar Spa or enjoy the view of the passing seabirds from our hot tub as the ship glides through the Denmark Strait. These days at sea are a great opportunity to make new friends and get in the mood for the adventures ahead.

'‘'Day 3: Kuummiut and Ikateq’
In the morning, we reach the idyllic village of Kuummiut, which lies in a breathtaking setting on the Ammassalik Fjord. Here you can experience life in a Greenlandic settlement at first hand. The quiet streets are characterized by the calls of the sled dogs and the gentle wind through the grass. After lunch, we continue our journey to Ikateq, where a historic airbase from the Second World War can be visited. This site is a fascinating testimony to the past and offers a unique insight into Greenland's history. The remains of the base have been reclaimed by nature and invite you to marvel. Enjoy the magnificent view and the peace and quiet as we explore the impressive coastal landscape.
'‘'Day 4: Tasiilaq’
Today we reach Tasiilaq, the largest settlement in East Greenland. This town offers a wealth of activities, including hikes through the surrounding mountains and visits to the local museum. Here you will learn more about the fascinating Tunumiit culture and the ancient traditions that are alive in this region. Enjoy the opportunity to admire the beautiful pottery and handicrafts of the locals as you stroll through the town. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to take part in a guided hike into the Flower Valley, where you can experience the spectacular landscape of the region up close. End the day with a traditional dinner in the town and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
'‘'Day 5: At sea - course for Ittoqqortoormiit’
As we sail along the coast of Greenland, you can admire the vast dimensions of this remote region. The impressive landscapes and untouched nature offer numerous opportunities for exploration. Enjoy various activities on board, including lectures on Greenland's unique ecosystems and wildlife. Learn more about the traditions of the locals and how they live in this harsh environment. Keep an eye out for whales and other marine life as we continue towards Ittoqqortoormiit, where we have the opportunity to experience life in one of the world's most remote settlements.
'‘'Day 6: Ittoqqortoormiit’
In the settlement of Ittoqqortoormiit, known as the ‘people who live in big houses’, you will experience the warm hospitality of the locals. Discover the local museum and learn more about the history and culture of this unique community. Here you can visit the traditional Greenlandic church and possibly even take part in a cultural event where the locals perform in their colorful traditional costumes. The surrounding area invites you to explore, either on foot or by dog sled. Take the opportunity to enjoy the impressive landscape and perhaps even spot one or two animals that live in the area.
'‘'Day 7-9: Northeast Greenland National Park’
Over the next few days, we will explore the huge Northeast Greenland National Park, the largest protected area on earth. Breathtaking landscapes, wild animals and untouched nature await you here. Our exact routes and activities will depend on the weather and ice conditions, adding a degree of excitement to each day. Possible landings will take us to stunning locations such as Bastion Cliff on Ella Island or the idyllic Blomsterbugt on Ymer Island. Keep your binoculars handy, as our experienced expedition team will always be on the lookout for the region's characteristic wildlife. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and the silence of this untouched wilderness.
'‘'Day 10: Blosseville Coast’
The dramatic Blosseville Coast offers breathtaking views of Greenland's highest mountains and steepest fjords. Named after the French explorer Jules de Blosseville, this remote stretch of coastline is known for its inaccessible waters that once repelled many explorers. Enjoy the spectacular views and look out for the animals that live in this habitat. Exploring this coastline is a fascinating experience that gives you the opportunity to experience the impressive nature of Greenland up close.
